I needed to come back to say that girl deserves the full weight of consequences to kick her in the ass. Jesus, you're not so important on social media that your viewers need to share your every moment, especially after you (stupid driver chic) destroyed a person's life.
You know, this is the thing about social media that gets me - it's this sense of importance, like it's just assumed that people actually care about what you look like today, what you had for breakfast, what you're doing right this minute, like you're some kind of fascinating celebrity that the world is clamoring for information about.
Am I wrong? I mean, do kids these days really want to know what their friends are doing at every second of the day? Is there really a demand for this kind of information? Are they like "Hey Madisyn, you haven't shared a selfie today! Please show us what you look like in your car ASAP!!! We really want to see how you styled your hair today!"?
I know, I am hopelessly old
I dunno. I post the occasional selfie with no expectation of fame. The most I'm looking for is perhaps a like or retweet.
It's just another form of communication with the ability to be more visual than others. There's probably a fair percentage of kids who think they'll get famous this way, but the rest are just doing what their people do to connect. Does anyone really care that I finally did yoga in my Star Trek yoga outfit? Nah, but sometimes I talk just to hear myself. Sometimes it turns dangerous because many people are stupid and have no self of self preservation much less the ability to care about the rest of humanity.
