I used my expense account for work to buy tickets to a show and I'm taking someone who is both a good friend and has sent work my way on occassion. Totally a legit expense. She's asking what she owes me for her ticket. Do I say nothing it's on me (~$400 for her and her DH) or do I tell her I'm expensing them? It seems kind of cheeky to say oh I'm expensing them, but at the same time I don't want her to feel she owes me something later on. Is there something else I can say that covers both issues?
When I lived in NYC I LOVED when friends could expense pricey tickets. I don't think its cheeky, I think it would be weird to expense them and not admit it.
I am also assuming that folks understand that expensing a pair of tickets isnt a "free-bee", it still (sorta) costs you - it's just not a cash transaction. It's a thank you for business and future business.
