Mine: Sometimes the differences between my parents and ILs crack me up. My mom and dad texted me tonight to say they would be in a financial planning seminar from 6-9 in case I was looking for them. We once couldn't locate my ILs for more than a week and when we did, they were in Panama. LOL.

It's thunder-storming, I've got Chinese food on the way, and Scandal on TV.
I freed up some time at work so I can get caught up on End of Course stuff and I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of me.
Holy shit. That thunder just rattled the pictures on the wall.
Anyway.
I'm also trying to find a birthday gift for my boss. I think I found a bracelet she'll like, but I'm hesitating. Give me ideas people! She wears silver only and likes to stack them.

My niece and nephew (who I love very much) are the most exhausting children on earth. They leave a trail of destruction, every dish used, muddy footprints, shaken out toy bins, crumbs, flung books, and spills all over my house. It's astounding how quickly they do it. My own kid is messy and everything but not like this. Every time they leave I just look around my house and think, "fuuuuuuuck."
My kid is learning the names of constellations and they're teaching what I learned as the Big Dipper as the Drinking Gourd. I knew the song, but didn't learn the stars that way. Little differences like that fascinate me.

I tried to get the little guy to practice his nun chuck 'move' that he began learning last night. He got frustrated. I gave it try to show him and was actually able to do it!
I bought a sweatshirt from J Crew factory and didn't realize it was the wrong size before I removed the tags. The store is an hour away anyway. Sigh. Well, if anyone wants this in an XXS (does run large) I'll send it FFS. Between that and a jacket I ordered online that arrived with its security tag still on, I'm cranky.
We had an Amber Alert issued. It was south of us & they're thought to be heading south from there, but it's a statewide thing. Anyway, they interrupted PBS kids with the announcement. My kids know to stop what they're doing and listen if a warning blares so they know if they need to go to their safe place (tornado) or if it's just a test. So, my 5 year old, tender hearted little guy heard the alert. He now wants to sit by the front window and watch for the black car to drive by so he can help the girl. And he's afraid she's going to be returned home with scars.
To be clear, I have no problem with them announcing it anywhere & everywhere. My heart just melts/breaks at the depth of compassion my kid has for complete strangers.

I put one of my dogs down a few hours ago I'm torn up He was so so good But very sick I've had a decent amount of wine But not enough I found a great organic one without added sulfites so no migraine I'm miss my boy dog My girl dog is restless without him Fuck Being an adult sucks
I was planning a girls trip to Vegas with my BFF and was about to book flights and had told her MH was going to fly in the day she flew out and we were staying 4 more days for H's 40th birthday. She then tried to turn it into a couples trip. Uh no. 2 types of vacation in the same place. I wanted a girls trip damnit! MH goes yearly, but none of my friends have ever wanted to do one until now. Except now it seems as if it's off. That's more of a whine than a random.

We're going OOT in one week and a handful of hours. I'm really thinking of taking a day off, or a half day, just to clean the house (we use a live-in pet sitter). I'm actually generally cleaner these days than I was before having a kid (I can't lay around and watch tv, so I tend to clean stuff while playing with ds), but omg there is clutter. EVERYWHERE. My dining room table is like a pile of random-shit-ds-can't-touch. The whole table.

I did this on Monday before my work trip and it was the best thing ever. I came home to all the clutter put away and a house still mostly clean.

I'm so sorry, cinnamon. :/
I should be working. I should go to the gym. However. I am making baked potatoes with chili and maybe banana bread and in my sweats watching Netflix. I feel like I always have to be *doing* something, always. I'm trying to relax. So. I'm focusing really hard on relaxing which I think is probably ridiculous.
I'm also working on a drawing and I found it flattering that B asked if I printed it out to color it, when it's actually a free hand.

I aspire to be your in-laws. Lol.
I actually do, too. They're like characters in a novel. They did the same thing when H was in college, except they were in Prague.
specialk, would you say it's more like an XS? If so, send me the link. I might take it off your hands.
Mine: I think DH got a job! It's not official yet, but they talked salary today and he's chatting again with the CEO tomorrow or Monday to get started on strategy and milestone discussions. The downside is that this is a brand new product, so they're starting this out as a contract until they've met specific milestones. If it doesn't pan out, DH could be out of a job in 6 months or so. The other downside is that if it does pan out, they may want him to move to Chicago. So, it's not entirely ideal, but H is excited to get some more consulting under his belt and we'll be able to move forward on our plans for this summer. Considering it's been less than a month and he has two other local options in the works, I'm feeling pretty good about this even if he does have to job search again six months from now.
Also, DH has been watching Sesame Street in the mornings with DS. I think DH might like it more than DS. lol His morning texts are cracking me up. Apparently Taye Diggs was on with Elmo this morning.
