revjen's confession that she doesn't care for the Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater made me think of this: Have you ever finished a book that everyone seems to love and you're like 'Did I read the same book?' because you just totally didn't get it/care for it? LOL
For me it was Anna and the French Kiss. Soooo many 5 star reviews from my GR friends and I gave it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because of invisible peer pressure LOL. Honestly? I'd say it was a solid 3 stars only. It was just ok. It was a little too YA for me with the angst. I didn't get the appeal.
Also, I feel that way about Gena Showalter, Rachel Van Dyken, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Kristen Ashley as authors in general. Nope. Just nope.

Ha yes it could definitely be dangerous... especially since my answer is Outlander. I just couldn't get into it and I thought it was really boring. I'll go hide for a while now.

Yes and yes.
Adding to this, I started Dark Prince by Christine Feehan and couldn't finish it. I can typically look past some domineering male characters but I refuse to read more that that super popular series because of that character.
I mentioned it the other day but Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. It has awesome ratings and I couldn't stand it.
Honorable mentions:
The Night Circus Matched Hush, Hush series The Others series Thirteen Reasons Why The Young Elites
Piggybacking on MrsAxilla in the WAYR post, I have never finished anything by Neil Gaiman. I'm read half of both Anansi Boys and American Gods and I just.can't.do.it. It makes my eyes want to bleed.
I think I've talked about most of mine here recently already. Apparently I like controversy.
I hated The Time Traveler's Wife and IQ84.
I tend to feel that a lot of YA books don't live up to their hype. I don't hate them, but for example I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, thought it was OK, and had no interest whatsoever in reading the rest of the trilogy. Same with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I do enjoy some books in this genre (The Hunger Games series for example).

I agree. It took everything I had to get through Neverwhere.

I really didn't like Neverwhere, but tried again with The Ocean at the End of the Lane when we did a book club on it here ~2 years back and that one was much better. With the 50/50 success rate I've been afraid to try Anansi Boys or American Gods.

Gaiman/his genre makes my head explode. I appreciate his creativity but... However, The Graveyard Book was good enough that I recommended it to my mom.

I listened to Neverwhere instead of reading it and that made it very enjoyable. I also really liked Good Omens but I enjoyed it because of the snark.
The Golem and the Jinni. I liked it well enough, but did not love it like so many seemed to.
Also The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I really didn't like it much at all.
That's another one that I didn't finish. I didn't like/understand it. It's funny because I can rationalize werewolves and vampires, but give my Neil Gaiman's characters and TGatJ and I just can't wrap my brain around it. I think my brain is wired weird.

This is a good post! I may think of more, but I tend to be "that" person who just doesn't get the hype. A few I can recall off the top of my head that I didn't love or didn't understand the attraction.
White Oleander Night Circus (although I think it would be a great movie) The Perks of Being a Wallflower The Book Theif Eleanor and Park

I'll jump on The Goldfinch bandwagon - I didn't finish it, and that almost never happens. After a certain point, I just couldn't be bothered with the main character.
The Help The Hunger Games - I read the first book and wasn't interested enough to read the rest.
Yes and yes. All the back and forth in life after life got old. And the Goldfinch? The whole part in Las Vegas lasted for.ev.er. That book was unnecessarily long.
