I love to travel, and every state has beautiful and interesting sites. I mean, if you were visiting Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, that would be boring. But Milwaukee is fun and Madison is great and the north woods are gorgeous.
I feel like people think you need to leave your country to have a vacation. Which is sad. We try to balance our travel, I have equally loved the other side of the country and some of our more "exotic" locations.
I've got 13 left, and then I'll have all 50. It's one of my goals. When I was a kid, my mom said her dream was to rent an RV and drive around the continental 48.

I don't think so! But everyone has their thing. Tropival vacations and laying on the beach for vacation would bore me, but I know that's the ideal for a good lot of ppl. Luckily, you don't have to bring everyone with you, so who cares what they think??

I think it's cool. My brother has been to a ton of states bc he did this big cross country road trip loop. Like FL -> SD -> BC. -> NV -> TX -> FL I always thought that was cool.
Not at all! EVERY state has something to offer, whether it's beautiful scenery, good food, historical sites, or just the people and a different way of life. It's an amazing country & there is SO much more to see than the big cities and some National Parks (not that those aren't great, too!).
underwaterrhymes, I haven't been to ND yet, but the Western part of SD is breathtakingly beautiful in places...and peaceful. In addition, South Dakotans are some of the most genuine, friendly people I've ever met. I love it there.
There are a lot of really cool places in this country. We loved visiting a few of the national parks out west (Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce) a few years ago and want to visit more of them. Acadia is right around the corner from us and we visit every spring. It's beautiful up there and tons of outdoor activities to partake in.
I love exploring the U.S. so it is not boring to me at all. My goal is to sleep in all 50 states (meaning short drive throughs or stopovers don't count). I would love to visit every inch honestly. I do agree though that domestic travel sounds less impressive or something. Oh well, more room for me to explore here.

My goal is to hit all of Canada. I am only missing one province and 2 territories. I love a good road trip and think that a countries as vast and varied as our own deserve to be seen. There's a lot out there! I've probably also been through half of the US and would love to see tho western half given the opportunity.
I think it sounds amazing. It's something I want to do. I've been *through* many states as I've driven from point A to point B (moving cross-country twice, visiting relatives on the east coast when we were in the Midwest, stuff like that.) My brother and his wife took their kids on cross-country rides as part of home-schooling them. They've been in I think 40 of the 50 states. This year we get free entry to all the US parks because GD2 is in fourth grade. I'd love to see as many of them as possible.

If I were American that'd totally be my thing. I love road trips. In fact dh and I have talked about spending our summers driving around Canada/northern US when the kids are teens/adults.

I think it sounds like fun! In fact, I had a neighbor years ago who did this, and in her travels always came home with one of those state-shaped souvenir fridge magnets, and she re-created the good ol' US of A all out of proportion but almost complete by the time I moved away. It was fun for me even to watch her travels expand. I thought the "map" was a really clever idea.
Of course it's not boring and I think anyone who actually thinks that is pretty short-sighted, TBH.
It's fine to want to travel internationally, and I think @32flavors, makes a good point. My parents used to travel overseas a fair amount but as my dad has gotten older, he's gotten a LOT weirder about being far from home and about flying. So, I can see how doing the "big" trips while your younger may make sense.
But still, in the end, our country is a part of the world and if you want to travel "the world", that includes the US!!
