I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you. Major (((hugs))). It will take time, but I believe you will run again. You will run for many years. And I agree with runblondie26 - you looked H-O-T in those prom pics!!!

This sucks so bad. I don't understand why you aren't getting better I do know once you get it figured out you will be the speedy taratru again quickly!

I had a partially ruptured peroneal tendon when I was a senior in hs. I had just signed to run on a scholarship. The first dr I went to told me my running career was over and I needed to give back my scholarship. Instead I got a second opinion (from St Vincents Sports med drs..they were awesome). They gave me a concrete list of things to do: Wear my boot. No matter what. 1.No matter how I felt or what i thought. 2. Do every single pt exercise 3. Rehab correctly and on their schedule even when I 'felt' I was in charge.
They also told me that not only would I run in college, they thought I could qualify and score for the state meet. I did. In three events, i ran in college and I managed to never suffer a reinjury.
Look. You live near the Boulder center for sports medicine. Do you go there? Are they your primary doctors? Are you a good patient? Do you follow the recovery protocol or do you push it and then get sore and set yourself back? Do you see a sport psychologist that specializes in injury?
I know its hard and I know you feel these setbacks especially close to the chest but..yes. others have come back from these types of injury. My doctor at st vincents told me my tendon could rupture from doing a breast stroke kick wrong. Thats how close it was to tearing. I could barely swim and I couldnt even ride the bike without my boot stabilizing my foot.
You can get better and you will but you have to stop putting these timelines on when you think you "should" be better or what you "should" be doing. I'm sorry you feel so alone right now and this is so hard for you.
