Now that DS is weaned and my body is my own again, AND now that he reliably sleeps past 5 AM, I've been adding spinning and swimming back into my training and really want to do a tri this summer.
The one I want to do is 7/9, which is 5 days after a half marathon I was planning on racing to PR. However, now I'm thinking I'll just do the half for fun and then do the tri (it's just an Oly).

We're enablers here, so I'll say sure!
I know nothing about tri's, but you're a seasoned endurance athlete. Picking either one as your A race, and then doing the other one for fun, sounds reasonable.

Yes absolutely you can (and should lol) do both! I agree with others - pick one as your A race and do the other for fun with some solid recovery in between.
Also I am dying at it's "just" an oly. I'm newer to tri but have said this with running before
