2x a week (minimum, will increase during peak periods, ie large events)
My expenses per 4 hour shift: $72.30 This includes one tank of gas (400 miles), insurance, payment, maintenance/future car fund, goodies (water, pepper spray).
I'll need to gross roughly $130 / shift. Which is roughly $30/hr for 4 hours. Or however long it takes me to do $130.
Which would net me $500 / month.
That's a minimum estimate. I could do up to 4 days a week. But Idk, ubless it's a holiday weekend or something.
I am curious, what insurance company will insure you to drive for Uber/Lyft? My husband works for GEICO and says they will not insure any ride share drivers and he didn't know of any company that would.

I honestly have no idea. I was told by the company to make sure I had x and I called my insurance to make sure I had x.
I'm not the only ride share driver so I'd imagine there's others with Geico out there doing the same thing.
So...until there's something that tells me I can't, I will. And I'd imagine both apps would collapse if that was the case...
Idk, this is turning into the Airbnb thread I did awhile back. Which we ended up doing and it worked out fine. To my knowledge, he still does one whole unit in his 4-plex.
If it was an issue, I'd imagine it wouldn't be such a hot commodity.

Seems your husband needs to brush up on their services.

So your insurance company doesn't know that you will be specifically driving for Uber? They may rate your policy for commercial use, or as a work vehicle, but that's different from being a ride share driver. I know I was recently in an accident and the first thing my insurance company asked me was if I was a ride share driver. They will investigate and if they find out you are, they will not cover your claim. That's a lot of additional liability to take on without the proper insurance. I would not do it unless my insurance company knew I was a ride share driver and was okay with that.
Thousands of these drivers do not have proper insurance because they have not disclosed to their insurers what they do. And Uber doesn't care because they do not share in the liability. You're a contract worker and carry all the liability yourself.
