My friend had her baby today, a little boy! And someone has already posted on Facebook about it, even though it's been less than 2 hours since he was born and they haven't made an announcement yet. How obnoxious.
I got my Tarte stuff. It's amazing. I put on makeup at 8pm just because. The tween house guest said it looked great and that she really liked my mascara. (hug2)
Also, she ate 4 tacos, cups of corn and half and avocado tonight. I'm not going to be able to afford adolescents.
I worked late tonight and called H on the way home. He put C on the phone and told her to tell me what she did tonight. He thought she would tell me she went to into the bathroom and pooped on the potty all by herself while he was downstairs changing the laundry over. Instead she said, "We made a present for you, Mommy! A present for your special day for being my mommy!" LOL. Secret keeper she is not.
Well made it through the first day back. DS2 was apparently all smiles today but he only drank 9 ounces in 10 hours and only took short catnaps. It's going to be a long night
I'm going to try really hard not to vent about DH but it's not going to be easy. Trying to not let his mood (bad because of work) affect my mood and holding back the jabs will be hard!

Took DD to the zoo today to see the new penguin exhibit. She liked the penguins well enough, but OMG she will not stop talking about the giraffes. Giraffe big! Eat grass! Play toys! So tall giraffe! Giraffe tank! (They were inside, so she decided it looked like they were in a fish tank - hence, giraffe tank) We sat on a bench watching the giraffes for probably 30 minutes.
Tomorrow is rainbow field day at preschool and they guilted the parents into "helping". The teacher was supposed to send an email with details, it is 7:35 pm and nothing. I don't know what time to show up, if I need to bring anything, how long I should plan to be there etc. annoying. Only 4 more days of preschool and I'm happy to be done with this teacher, not impressed.

My husband has spent a lot of energy this week coordinating with DS's friends' parents to see the new Captain America on Saturday. He is a better person than me because I'm too lazy to do this. But DS is so excited.
We try not to swear at home. Our last name is very close to a swear word and rhymes with it. A girl from school started calling dd, First name, swear word for the last name. Dd thinks this is funny but I think the little girl knows it's a swear word, dd does not. So tonight I had to explain why this word was a bad word. Dd asks what it meant and I didn't have anything, it doesnt mean anything, It's just a swear word, don't say it. It was weird.
I never wear lipstick, but I'm having a crisis about getting old, so I wore it today. I got my hair cut, then I went to daycare to pick up the kids. DD's friends didn't recognize me, and DD cautiously walked up to me and then turned back to her friends and said, "No, guys, that's my mommy." *turns to me* "Mommy? Why is your face all dressed up? Are you and Daddy going on a date?"
For some dumb reason, I decided to wash all of the down pillow inserts from my living room throw pillows. This would be the first time, and I've had them going on six years. It looks like I shot a goose in my living room. I don't want to deal with this right now.
I'm out at Home Goods. Who are these people who go out shopping with 2 or more kids under the age of 5 at 8 pm without them completely melting down?
Neither of my kids is fit for public consumption after, like, 6:30 pm. And even if they were I am well out of energy to deal with keeping them happy in public by this late in the day.

I'm going to miss the Mother's Day tea tomorrow at daycare because of this business trip
But I drank wine in the library with one of my new coworkers and she gave me all the dirt. Apparently my predecessors set the bar super low, so that's good
My grandma loves Hamilton and has been sending me clippings from the WSJ and NYT every time she reads a good article about it. She also sends me all her favorite books and we try to read the same ones around the same time. I love her!
I went to kickboxing for just over an hour, so I'm fucking beat now. I made baked beans and smoked kielbasa for dinner because lazy.
I put a pair of shoes P got when she was a baby onto her feet today. Size 3-6 month Sperrys, pink. They fit perfectly. Poor girl has the tiniest feet ever.
I am overly excited that Stella's new high chair comes next week. Like this is my life now, excitement over a high chair. But it has a magnetic tray!! And that legit is exciting!
bunch this season. It airs Sunday. I mean, there is a good chance those 2 seconds are the only 2 she is in the thing, but it kills me it's the cover of the preview clip and everything, lol.
@bunnybean she IS young! Only 74.
My MOTHER will be 68 this year!!
My mother is 71! I was 14 the last time I had a grandparent who was 74! I'm always jealous of people who have young grandparents - it seems like it would be so much fun (especially if gma is as fun as @mrswindycity's gma!)
I noticed J's daycare note said "practiced coloring!" a lot this week. They were teaching him so he could do a Mother's Day craft for me! I didn't open the wrapped one, but there is a cutout of a hand (his hand, traced) that is folded over and holding flowers that he colored. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
I took J out for dinner with my dad and he (not my dad) is such a little flirt. He was waving and doing these sideways fake-shy smiles and flashing his dimples at all the ladies. My dad is so shy and was mortified by all the attention of people coming over and/or looking at us.
