I suppose I could have replaced them, but there are 4 in the house and the ones I liked ranged from $120 - $160. I have other stuff to spend that $$ on that's ACTUALLY broken and not just ugly.
So anyway. Boob lights. I hate 'em. Particularly ugly contractor grade boob lights. But, they get the job done. At least they have more than 1 light bulb - which is my main complaint about cheap fixtures. Since I didn't want to spend a ton, I set out to find a less expensive option. Which is when I stumbled upon a blog post turning a lamp shade into a ceiling fixture.
SO ridiculously easy (particularly since I sprung for the shade WITH the diffuser included), all I did was change the shade and the locking end cap (aka the finial on a regular lamp). I had to install these upside down since the spider (metal rods inside) got in the way of the bulbs, but it works reasonably well. Better - IMO - than gluing a piece of fabric to the bottom of the shade to DIY a diffuser.
That looks great! Would you post the blog link? This might be just what a friend of mine is interested in doing.
I found it via apartment therapy (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/boob-jobs-9-ideas-for-enhancing-your-buildergrade-lights-216193), but the link is from YHL LOL

Thanks! I wonder how much of the yellow is their light bulbs? I wanted them to hang down a bit more, but every time I tried I ended up with crooked shades. Plus the base of the boob light isn't super attractive.
