For some reason I enjoy looking at the super cheap houses and being horrified by the condition theya re in. What is the cheapest house you can find in your area?
Here is mine: on the market for a whopping $11,900. No pictures of the inside, but the blurb says "Look at this as a great opportunity to fix it up any way you want it."
$29,600 - 2 bed, 1 bath, 672 sq ft, built in 1945. Described as "Cute Country Cottage" but notes no well or water supply to the house, no known septic system. WTF, there's no way people have been living here for almost 70 years without water or sewer, right?
Listed under description: Possibilities! Possibilities! It needs a little loving attention and a few necessities. No current functioning well. Septic condition is unknown at this time.
Yeah, if there's no functioning well, I would say it needs a few necessities. This must be out in the boonies, because where I live, we have city water/sewer, not wells.
Every photo available is of the same room, which doesn't look great, but since that's the only room pictured I can only assume that the rest of the house is worse.

79k - It's advertised as waterfront - which it is, but the channels don't go anywhere - meaning there is no access to the Gulf of Mexico like most of the channels in our neighborhood- also in a flood zone - would probably be impossible to get insurance on since it's an older home and is not elevated off the ground (which has been req'd by building code for the last 10yrs).

Who needs water or sewer when you have a satellite dish?
That's true. I'd probably shit in a hole before I'd give up cable.

At $160, this isn't the cheapest but IMO it's certainly one of the most depressing listings I encounter regularly. They started out asking $212K in 2009. Almost 3 years later and it looks like this house finally has a contingent offer.
