Can anyone speak to whether or not they gap at the waist? I have the hardest time with shorts because they ride up so much. If I buy them big enough to fit over my thighs and butt, they gap a ton at the waist and ride up.
I just bought these Madewell ones. They are super comfy and pull on, so no riding up, but they're not "normal" shorts.
I just found myself thinking, "Man, I wish American Eagle made these in maternity..."
IT'S AMERICAN EAGLE, YOU DUMMY! Why would they have maternity?! lol
I was just thinking the same thing. And then trying to figure out how long I'd have before I'd grow out of them, at least until next summer anyway. lol
I'm gonna pop into AE on Sunday or Monday to grab a pair. I got from old navy and they're nice but the 0 is still big. I think AE would fit better.
AE is def sized better than old navy. I'm pretty small and old navy doesn't fit; they're cut a little large, but I can wear American eagle.
I find it the opposite. I can wear a 4 or 6 in ON, but I've never bought AE b/c by the time I'm up to trying a 10 or 12, I get discouraged and leave. I'm 5'3" and 130lbs, so I don't know which is more "accurate" a size, but it makes me feel better when it's smaller, obviously.
Except, I really want these shorts. And they're on sale.
I bought like 5 pairs of these, plus some other lacy pull on shorts because I have no self restraint. And they were BOGO 1/2 off + 20%.
Anyway, I really like them. I bought my regular size and I'm glad I did, but I gain all weight in my stomach area/torso and have fairly thin legs. So they fit around my waist, but are a little bit baggy through my legs/thighs. I don't think I'd want to size down because then they'd be too tight in my waist, which would be seriously uncomfortable. I need to find some good tops to wear with them though. Why is finding the perfect casual t-shirt so hard? WHY IS EVERYTHING SEE THROUGH?

if you ever figure out the T-shirt thing, PLEASE let me know. right now I have a bunch of h&m, target and old navy tees with stretched out necklines. not cute.

I have some Merona ones. I think they are boyfriend v-necks that I really like. I buy up a size or 2 so it's not tight but it's not baggy. They are long but have a shape if that makes sense.

I bought some long sleeve Land's End shaped or something like that t-shirts over the winter. And I do like those, because they fit well and are nice material. I just don't think they would work with these shorts, but maybe they have a v-neck I could try. I'm going to try a few Boden shirts, too.

I second the Merona ones. They aren't see through, they're long and with a V-neck, no stretching out. I bought a ton when they were 40% off a few weeks ago. I got M, which is my normal size and they are no where near tight.
I bought these two types in a multitude of colors:
