I bought like 5 pairs of these, plus some other lacy pull on shorts because I have no self restraint. And they were BOGO 1/2 off + 20%.
Anyway, I really like them. I bought my regular size and I'm glad I did, but I gain all weight in my stomach area/torso and have fairly thin legs. So they fit around my waist, but are a little bit baggy through my legs/thighs. I don't think I'd want to size down because then they'd be too tight in my waist, which would be seriously uncomfortable. I need to find some good tops to wear with them though. Why is finding the perfect casual t-shirt so hard? WHY IS EVERYTHING SEE THROUGH?
if you ever figure out the T-shirt thing, PLEASE let me know. right now I have a bunch of h&m, target and old navy tees with stretched out necklines. not cute.
Try grana.com. I got a bunch of their cotton tshirts recently (on the advice of someone here, can't remember). I love them. They are super soft and not see through. I wear them almost daily and so far they are holding up very well.

I bought some long sleeve Land's End shaped or something like that t-shirts over the winter. Â And I do like those, because they fit well and are nice material. Â I just don't think they would work with these shorts, but maybe they have a v-neck I could try. Â I'm going to try a few Boden shirts, too.
Nooooo stay away from Boden! Their tees are see-through, shrink majorly, and are expensive to boot! I'm having luck with the long scoop neck tee at Loft this season.
I actually like these. Shorts are so hard! Do you find that they stay in place? I hate it when I feel like my cooch is eating my shorts because they can't resist the thigh rub friction.
Also, I was looking at swimsuits on ae.com and I appreciate that they have some more average body typed models showing the swimwear. Still plenty of typical model bodies, but also a few with a little junk in the trunk.

They stayed in place all night! I did a few adjustments here and there but they didn't constantly ride up all day. Get some!

Those look great on you, I'm definitely going to pay a visit to AE this weekend. If you hadn't said so, I never would have guessed that you were a size 16, which gives hope to size 14 me that these shorts will look decent on me.

I love AE midi shorts. I have three pairs of the rolled cuff ones, because they were the un-ripped ones and I found that I wore the same size as I do in jeans (size 10). They're super comfy, sometimes the rolled part is annoying because it unrolls and looks silly, but oh well. And I do not foresee the day approaching anytime soon when I will be 'too old' to wear shorts in the summer. Because the alternative is to wear long pants and swelter.
