I'm not well versed in shorts, even though I live in Texas. I hate my legs so I've always stuck to skirts and dresses. I do like the ON bermuda shorts. Target shorts do NOT work for me at all. I'm a 16 and got an 18W and they don't fit at all. Like, can't even zip them up.

Target pants and shorts make me feel like shit about myself. I feel like their sizing is sooooo off.

Ann Taylor Loft has a lot of cute shorts with 6" inseams. I recently bought a few pairs and I think they're a great length for protecting from chub run without being too long.

Thank goodness I'm not alone in this. I was feeling crazy! I've lost weight, I'm not sure how much, but I think like 35 pounds and my clothes fitting looser is really motivating. Getting those shorts in the mail the other day was kind of a blow I guess I've never really bought pants/shorts from them before.
I hold the strong opinion that shorts are not meant for anyone except the very thin. I refuse to wear them (which I realize doesn't help you, sorry!). Super short ones show off my cellulite and long ones chop up my legs and make me look fatter/stumpier than I am.
I have a bunch of skirts and skorts like this from Prana, Lucy and Athleta. Any chance that would work for you? I feel MUCH less self conscious about my legs in a skirt. Skimmies are good under them.

The only bottoms I buy from them now are maxi skirts.
I have good luck with the Lee Women comfort fit; I get petite to get the right length. Bermuda shorts are too long to be flattering (sausage legs), so I try to go with about 7" long.

Congrats on the weightloss!!!! Sorry I missed y'all last weekend.
I HATE shopping for pants at Target. I never fit in them and I always leave the store feeling so awful about myself.
PS - I finally used my instant pot to cook a whole chicken and rice (separately).

I don't like shorts on me. I hardly ever buy any and prefer skirts. What kind of tops do you wear with these skirts? Are they tucked in? I have a heavy midsection and don't like to tuck anything in.

How did you like it?! We still need to get together now that things have slowed down a bit!

I agree with others....use some self tanner and go for the shorter length (not TOO short though). That's what I did last summer and I liked the way shorts looked so much better than I usually do. I got a few pair from JC Penney, can't recall the brand. Doesn't matter you've gotten so good suggestions! BTW I'm 5-11, size 12-14, with an ass and thighs!
I liked the 5 in ones from loft and the 5 in chambray from LE, too.

Yes!!! I'll FB you - maybe we can get together in June???! I LOVE my IP! However, I only know how to make two things and need to figure out how to use it more often. I love how quick and effortless it is. I'm not an intuitive cook, so it takes me a while to figure out what to try and then find a recipe that's not intimidating, etc. My next adventure may be cooking hard boiled eggs...lol!

Tees are usually my go-to. V-necks, dolmans (my current #1 fave), tanks. Loft has had really great options this spring (vintage soft tees FTW). I usually try to get the skirts a little more fitted (think pencil skirt style) and then go roomier on the tees.
I never tuck in. Pregnancy #2 was not kind to my stomach...

I love soft shorts, like these: oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1058082&vid=1&pid=222317002. I actually think a short-ish short is more flattering on most women than a longer short. And I avoid anything too structured because I hate my legs feeling sausaged.
I have these too and really like them. And my thighs are NOT skinny.
I am also almost 5'10" and have the hardest time finding shorts. I have tried on shorts from every store known to man. I found these shorts at Walmart and they are life changing. They fit like they were made for me. They are long enough and they have a nice stretch, but don't lose their shape. They are also dirt cheap! I wore them during our Disney trip a few weeks ago and they were so comfortable. Who knew I'd finally find the perfect shorts at Walmart!
