Snapchat isn't just for the selfie filters and stickers though. If that's all you're doing, then I guess it seems pretty dumb.

I still just don't "get" it. Like what's the point of this photo you've put time into with filters and objects, etc getting deleted in 10 seconds?

My kids love it and crack up. So I Make cute videos of them. If you hold down the button it will record it.

I prefer Microsoft selfie for amazing selfie filters. It does t have that blueish tone to them.

You can save it (with the down arrow button), add it to your 24 hr story, or send to friends. You can save anything after the fact (videos and photos) only if you've added it to your story and it hasn't been more than 24 hours. People can send you chat or photo responses to your photos as they watch.

You can change the timer (I have mine set to 3 seconds), but you can display it for up to 10 and as little as 1.


The geotags are awesome and I think the filters are fun. I probably use Snapchat more than IG and definitely more than FB. I love getting a good snap streak going, the trophies are fun, and I love seeing how creative people can get.

Again, I think you have to have a good group of people to follow. All social media is lame without the "social" aspect.

I sent chilerellanos a snap of my light switch that helped me realize I missed a spot when painting that I haven't noticed for 6 mo until just then.

I use it to send stupid pics to my friends and people I work with throughout the day. Sometimes my facial expressions say things better than a text would. Then it disappears and doesn't save in my phone.

Its a more silly, goofy way to communicate.

Best way is in selfie mode. Long press the screen over your face until it recognizes your facial features.they'll pop up.
