I'm so sorry, flex. Any word on how she is doing today?
Her kidneys and liver are shutting down. She hasn't regained consciousness. They have her on morphine and keeping her comfortable. I don't know if she can breathe on her own. Her siblings and my stepdad have stayed at her side.
I'm at the Anchorage airport right now, and boy...I just can't get home fast enough. I wish I could get beamed there.

flex, I am like paralyzed in fear. If I recall, your mom got sick after my mom did. While I am so so thankful for every day with my mom..,,having this happen with yours seems too soon, too unfair . It really fucking sucks. And I know our day is coming.
i wish I could hold you
we all love you and can carry your heart in ours for a while if it hurts too bad...we got you

Even though this is a difficult time, I'm SO glad I have the privilege of being here with her as she prepares for her final journey.

Quick update: so it turns out she WAS breathing when they found her on Friday--my sister and stepdad just couldn't wake her up. Her blood sugar was waaaaaay low, and they believe she had a stroke because of it. They know there's some damage to her brain because her hands are in fists (this is from the doctor). She is breathing on her own, but her liver and kidneys are shutting down. The nurse feels that she won't make it through the night.
They have her on morphine and she's comfortable. Friends and family have been in and out since Friday morning. Right now it's my niece and I. My nephew flew to Portland from VA and should be here in a couple hours.
Thank you for all your prayers, kind words and good thoughts.

Thanks for taking time to update, flex. I'm glad you were able to make it to be there with your mom.
You are being held so close in prayers and thoughts from people all over tonight. Continuing to pray for peace, comfort, and strength as you walk through this difficult time.
