CNN is saying " This isn’t a one-day event. Britain’s decision to depart from the EU has injected huge amounts of uncertainty into markets, and it has the potential to upend Europe’s established political order. Buckle up!"
My blood runs cold when CNN tells us to "buckle up". Oy.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
I'm utterly gutted by this. It feels like my entire city (Brussels) just woke up to a nightmare. My UK friends here and in London are so mad and crying.
It's going to take at least 10 years before the UK will have replaced all the EU legislation. It is going to be chaos.
Moreover, nationalist parties in other countries will push a referendum or at least an very un-European program and that will take us to the dark ages...
I've been in Paris and London the past two weeks, meeting with media people, all of whom thought it would be close, but remain win. I'm very scared for the US election now, if experts here were so off the mark.
I'm so shocked. It might be time to seriously look at the possibility of a Trump presidency.
And this is why I keep saying don't write off Trump in the general. He appeals to a demographic who is pissed and want to turn back the clock to when they were powerful. If the #nevertrump, #iguessimwithher, #imwithher people don't get out and vote in Nov we could have Trump as president.
This is also why I am pissed at Bernie, the longer he goes without talking the Bernie Bros down and into party unity the worse things look for Nov
I'm just speechless. I just posted on the CEP thread re: watching Trump's speech at his new Scottish golf course. He didn't even freaking MENTION Brexit until he was asked/ questions from reporters after his 10-minute speech. It was so embarrassing. He basically used this large press following/ completely took advantage of his campaign for POTUS & made it into a commercial for his property. Despite the major world decision that had just happened, & He's THERE!!! His total self-absorbed ignorance knows no bounds.

At least he isn't openly proclaiming his love for Nigel Farage?

This exactly. I really think people are underestimating the sheer number of people with this mindset.

Ok I'm beyond shocked. I've been watching the news since 4am. I couldn't sleep and our CNN was streaming British CNN till around 6am.
I normally don't like Christiane Amanpour (various reasons), but her reporting in London has been excellent on this topic.
I'm hopeful that the Netherlands, France, and others don't decide to follow.
The comical nature of this only comes out of the Trump debacle of the day. Shows up to his Scotland property. Doesn't say a word about the vote except to say it's fantastic. CNN America shows video footage of his remarks there from his property, but no sound. Only the voice over of the reporters talking about his business ties, how he isn't coming off presidential bc he isn't even talking about the breaking news topic at hand, no meetings with foreign leaders on the agenda. He's getting SLAMMED by foreign and American media.... and Then, maybe 10 minutes later he comes back for a press conference to defend himself. I really can't believe this is happening...like I need popcorn and need to keep my jaw off the floor (although I've felt like that all of election season...)
All of this makes me miss my days of living in the UK. They keep it real. Lol.
