Yesterday at 7:31pm So as ordered by the eye doctor my lovely children must wear sunglasses all the time while outside. She told me because of their bright blue eyes and not enough pigment the sun could be burning the retina. Now it's sunglasses at all time while in the sun.
Enabler: Ethin is the same way, the sun burns his eyes all the time, at the park the sun was hurting and he ran into the slide
Editor: DS is light sensitive. But was never told anything like this because all 3 kids have blue eyes too.
2nd Enabler: Was told this for my 3 expecially my youngest
Boring: I was just told this yesterday, Editor. Not sure if you have had any of the kids to the eye doctor yet, but that's who told me. She said that when she was shining the light in his eyes and was apologizing for it being so bright, even on the lowest setting for the light. Poor boy had watery eyes when she was done. It had only taken a minute. Maybe you should try sunglasses for DS. The light from the sun and any bright light can burn the retina. I have the same problem. I just never wear sunglasses. Lol! All these years I was told by my mom that I have hazel eyes but the eye doctor says mine are blue.
Editor: Yeh. DSs had his eyes checked. He has light sensitivity so thats why he wears sunglasses when he's out. But i was never told anything like that lol.
3rd Enabler: I have light eyes and was NEVER told this, but I guess its who you go to, DD's eyes are lighter than mine and they never said a word about it,and yes,I took my kids to the eye Dr. Boring.
Boring: I know you did. I was just say that because of what I was told. They never said it when I was younger either. But maybe with the research they do all the time they figure out that's why a lot blue eyed people are sensitive to lights. I only said about her maybe not taking them yet because of them not really needing to go at their young age yet until there is a problem maybe. I was recommended with DS because of his vision problem in his right eye. The very eye he keeps open enough to see in the sun and bright lights while the left eye is closed and that one was basically fine. Just giving her an option if your son would let them on outside so he doesn't have the same problems while he is young. She said it's what can hurt their eyes to a certain age. The older we are the less likely it will do the worse damage. I forget the age though. I took DS to the Walmart vision center just because that's where I go. It was the first I heard about it but then I'm not a kid. And we all have to remember that with new research things and ibformation change for each generation.
3rd Enabler: We all need to remember a lot.Especially when it comes to Wally World.
4th Enabler: Dr * is great she does exams on kids to test so much more then the regular eye dr .. expecially if a child is having a trouble in school i cant express how important and informative her appointment is for kids.. i honestly feel that all children should have to have one of these exams before going to kindergarten.. only sad thing is ahe dont take alot access ao ita out of pocket
Random: Does she take blue Cross Blue Shield
4th Enabler: Im not sure of what insurance she takes u would just have to call and ask.

She's never looked in a mirror? How do you not know what color eyes you have?
Yeah, I don't really get this either. And it's not like she always thought she had brown or green eyes but they are hazel. Hazel and blue are not similar eye colors!

Maybe I have hazel eyes? All my life I thought they were blue but I can go outside without sunglasses and I never run into anything. I'll have to ask a doctor.

I have hazel eyes. Part of that is people asking if they're blue, gray, or green, even occasionally brown. It's kind of the hallmark of hazel, that they can appear different depending on light and what you're wearing. I'm not sure my h could even tell you my eye color
I'm sure it surprises you that boring is clueless.
Eta: h said "gray. But I think they call that hazel". Lofl

I don't even know what color my eyes are are because of this. They change all the time.
My dd's eyes are hard to really tell. More grey than blue and sometimes can look a bit greenish. We just go with blue. About the sunglasses part, my eye doctor said I have to wear them out in the sun because of corneal thickening in my left eye or something like that.
