Wha? I just updated hoping they fixed the three-step bug, and now there's no steps at all? THAT IS NOT A FIX!?!?
Also, like, 5 nice/great balls and 15 level pidge STILL breaks out?
And pokevision removed. I...had not fun last night. I was in a park and literally spent 20 minutes walking in a circle trying to pinpoint an Electrabuzz who never appeared off the radar and it made no logical sense based on his movements in the ordering. And I swear the stuff on my radar most of the time now isn't actually THERE.

I've thought this for awhile...the stuff that shows up as "Nearby" is completely unrelated to the stuff that actually pops up (except for having a million Pidgeys and Rattatas or whatever). I think it's not just a three-step bug, the nearby is not even stuff that's actually nearby. Save
ETA: I think I've confirmed this...for the first time this weekend I was out with someone who also plays, and our "Nearby" screens were completely different!Save
It's hard to Pokemon with a baby! You'd think it would be easy but it's so hot i feel like she can't hang outside for too long, so long walks to catch Pokemon aren't really happening. I caught a bunch at the grocery store at least...thank goodness somebody put down a lure at the restaurant next door I suck at battles though.
I found several places that allow me to park with a napping baby and hit multiple pokestops and catch various Pokemon because some kid always has a lure going lol I don't specifically go out for them but if she falls asleep on the way home I'll hit the closest park and collect pokeballs alternating between Facebook.
The best was the bench at the fair with 3 pokestops and it was air conditioned.

I read somewhere that when the three-step bug started, the ordering also became erratic and untrustworthy. The only option I've heard about now is to keep restarting the app every few hundred meters and seeing what pops up first in the Nearby list.
Has anyone else noticed the big shift in spawn points?
I was passing through a Clefairy nest every day to feed my friend's cats, and while my duties ended right after the shuffle, I did pick up a Nidoran on that last day instead of a Clefairy (which I desperately needed after accidentally transferring my Clefable to Professor Candyman).
Around here, some of the spawn points seem to have changed location as well. We had a regular spawn point near my office, and I used to be able to pick up something any time I went by on a coffee break. I haven't found anything there all week!
The only silver lining I've found to the recent changes is that a Vulpix nest seems to have appeared near our apartment. I was working from home part of the day, and I had 3-4 appear in exactly the same spot. Plus another this morning. Unfortunately, more than half of them ran away! Even with Ultra Balls and Razz Berries!!!

Oh my GOD, I hate how balls just bounce off the heads of Pidgeys and Spearows and then they just give you that look, like "What's good, beeyotch?"
So, question...DS tried to gym battle the other day (lost tremendously, but okay). How do I use some of these damn potions and crystals to restore back the health of the pokemons he used to battle? His Golduck is still showing 3/99 for health, and I'm throwing away potions and crystals by the dozens to make room for pokeballs. :-)

Go into your items and click on the potion, then any mons needing healing who can use that type potion show up and you click on them to heal'em up.

Oh, man, that was an epic fail. My son and I went to the nearest gym, battled it down to 0, and then put his Pokemon on top. He was so proud, we went straight home (literally 2 minutes' drive) and he called up the gym to show DH and someone else had already taken it over! Now he's crying. :-P
My SO is awesome. He caught this Spearow yesterday and decided that he needed to rename it:
Ha. My husband wants a t-shirt for Halloween that says "Error 404: Costume Not Found" but I'm never organized enough to order it in advance. Maybe I should do it now. :-)
My parents house is a pokestop, so if you're in Upstate NY, please don't stalk them
lol what does it say under the Pokestop? Like, are they in a historical house, or does it just say like "yellow house on the corner"? SaveSave
I don't know. The only way they found out was their neighbor caught a drowsie out front. They had noticed more people on the street but didn't think too much of it.
Tracking is back! I downloaded the latest update this morning, and this afternoon I was able to use the Sightings list to successfully track down a specific Pokemon! It was even in a spawn point I'm not already familiar with.
Does anyone live in San Francisco and get to try out the expanded Pokestop-based tracking system?

How does that work? Do you walk around and see what order the "Sightings" change to to try to figure out if you're getting closer or farther?
Also, has anyone managed to increase their bag capacity? I saw online that it's supposed to go up with ever "upgrade" -- wondering if they met "update"? but I've updated several times and I'm still at 350. Unless there's a way to pay money to upgrade your account?

The "Sightings" list updates once every 10 seconds and shows what's currently within range*. When something de-spawns, it now disappears from the list, and if you go out of range, it disappears from the list.
The order of the list doesn't change, though, so all you can do is walk one direction until it drops off, walk another direction until it drops off, and then triangulate the location from that.
Essentially, I walked towards my normal spawn point, but the thing I was hunting disappeared before I got there. I back-tracked a few meters, and it showed up again. Then I walked another direction, and it dropped off again. Then I looked at the map to figure out where it would need to be to have dropped off at those two spots but have been in range from everywhere else.
*I had something drop off my Sightings list as soon as I left my office (which was closer to the Pokemon location than the building entrance), so I'm pretty sure my desk is very close to the Sightings range limit for that spot. Based on a Google maps measurement, I think the Sightings range is very close to 200 meters.

You can buy a "Bag Upgrade" in the Shop for 200 Pokecoins. According to the description, it "Increases the max number of items you can carry by 50." I'm considering doing this once I get 200 Pokecoins (I'm only at 70 from my gym payouts, since I unfortunately lost my first 80 a few weeks ago due to a game glitch).
I guess the original 3step tracking system was too much a hog on the servers but I preferred that and found the triangulating fun and relatively easy. I haven't been enjoying the game as much now because trying to track anything down rather than just coming across it at random (which means 90% pidgeys & drowzees) just kinda sucks :/
Since the last update with the Sightings list, I've actually been tracking things down fairly consistently. In the last two days alone, I've managed to hunt down an Electabuzz, a Vaporeon, and a Dragonite.*
It's especially easy if it shows up when I'm already on the move, since I immediately know one of the range boundary points. And I've found that if I'm on a cycle, it's pretty easy to trial-and-error my way into the right spot.
The only times I haven't been able to find what I was looking for were a) if I noticed them late, and they de-spawned quickly, or B) when they spawn in a spot on the back side of my office building. It's all tall grass, shrubbery, and - as I found out the hard way last week - swampy pools of standing water. Sometime when it's drier weather and I'm wearing jeans, I need to track down that spawn point and see if there's any way to access it when I'm wearing heels.
*The Dragonite was super easy, thought, because as soon as I turned a corner, I saw 3 cars stopped alongside a park with their blinkers on, and about 20 people standing around the same area in small groups holding phones! It was like our small-town version of that crazy Central Park video!
