I'm listening to Alison weir's newest historical fiction about Katherine of Aragon. I am reading the newest book by Audrey Faye that has to do with mermaids. I can't remember the name of it.
QOTW: i'm pretty sure that I ask why after I finish staring at them like they have 4 heads. Reading is like air to me. It's part of who I am. A vital part.
This was everywhere last weekend at all the bookstores I visited. I seriously considered buying it, but I could not justify Australian book prices for it when I know it will be at the remainders shop soon enough. The paperback was $45 which is insane for a paperback in my mind. I'll wait until it hits the remainders shop for $10.
Wow, $45? Now I understand why you often read older books. That's crazy!

Audible lets us share audiobooks now. I hAve no idea how it works but I would be more than happy to send it to you when i'm done.
Really? Interesting! That's been a big reason why I've almost exclusively borrowed from my library.
ETA because I hate the idea of"buying" a book but being unable to lend it.

Ohh, thank you so much for the offer, it is so very kind of you. I know with Kindle books, you can only loan them once and I would hate to use up your single loan for a book I'm perfectly happy to wait to read. But I will keep it in mind if I get impatient.

Yes, newly published books run between $25-$50 for paperbacks. Hardcovers are rare, but are just as expensive. I find the price drops when the book is republished as a "paperback" in the US, though the editions here rarely change. It's just a price drop to more reasonable prices, $12-25. I do most of my book shopping at remainder shops or remainder bins at the local equivalent of Wal-Mart. And I do at least one huge order from Amazon a year, but the shipping is equal to the cost of the books, so I save that for books I really want to read and know I will not have an easy time finding here.
It's not as bad for me as I don't tend to read too many bestsellers anyway. And I know I could get the books for my Kindle, but I still like paper books for heavy books, books with footnotes, or books where I'll be flipping back and forth a good deal.
I was listening to The Devil in the White City. It was good but I was expecting more of a narrative and was also two stories in one that jumped around each chapter. One part was about the Chicago Worlds Fair itself and the other was the story of the murderer.
I am reading Golden Son and like it but not going crazy over it. I'm about 60% through so far.
I finished The Devil in the White City and am now listening to Rogues which is a collection of short stories.
QOTW: I cant fathom not liking to read. I have always been a reader. Now I wasn't always a runner and I know how it feels to dislike running so when people tell me they hate running I get it but reading? Can't.
