I just started "Everything I Never Told You". I'm only about 30 pages in, but so far it's good! I have a hard time getting into books so I hope this one stays strong.
Ice cream is one of my favorite foods. I like just about any kind of chocolate, on a big chocolate peanutbutter kick, but that can be tough to find a good one. I like MCC, but one with big chunks of mint chocolate. Ben and Jerry's Phish Food is really good too.
I was a disappointed by this one in the end. It was just a different book than I was expecting. A little less engaging for me personally, I guess. It is a good book about parental and societal pressures and how we treat kids based on our own issues/failures.
I renewed The Silkworm yesterday, because I have not picked up a book all week - where has all the time gone!?! This weekend is going to be busy, I hope to get it started soon. I have been getting through some of my crazy magazine surplus.
QOTW: I love all ice cream: with chunks, without chunks, plain, fancy, fruit, chocolate! Salted caramel is my favorite. We always tend to have vanilla in the house - it goes so well with other things. My ice cream maker gets regular use throughout the year. I choose a cone (when out) and a dish (at home). Brownie sundaes are great, but the best is a turtle sundae - that would be my "special treat" ice cream choice.
pandora89 - I really liked The Nest - I hope you do too.
I also recently read The Widow. It wasn't my favorite. Publishers need to stop saying things are the next Gone Girl.
spedrunner , I was also disappointed by Luckiest Girl Alive. It wasn't at all what I expected.
I am currently reading Eligible. I just finished Salt to the Sea. I liked it, but not as much as Between Shades of Gray. It felt very rushed and I'm not sure why.
Just finished Mrs Grant and Madam Jule. Meh. I kept reading because it was somewhat interesting, but way longer and more boring than I had hoped.
Cookies and cream or black cherry. In a sugar cone, that's my go-to order at the local ice cream store. If I have brownies at home, I also have ice cream, they are just better together.

Started reading Dont You Forget About Me by Jancee Dunn. It is an easy read and would be a good non-thinking/junk food for the brain beach book.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! While I do love Mint Chocolate Chip (it has to be green) I am also a fan of Rosewater ice cream, Green Tea ice cream, Coffee ice cream. I did have an Earl Grey ice cream a few months ago that was probably the best ice cream flavor I have ever eaten. My preferred method of ice cream consumption is in a waffle cone or bowl that has been dipped in chocolate and rainbow sprinkles.

I had no idea that MCC was such a polarizing issue! I knew people who like it are particular about whether it is white or green, but not that there were For and Against teams.
I just started reading After You by Jojo Moyes. I didn't want to read this at first for fear that it would ruin Me Before You. However, after watching Me Before You, I decided to give it a chance.
I prefer frozen yogurt to ice cream because ice cream tends to make me feel sick afterwards. I like dark chocolate and strawberry twist (called chocolate covered strawberry at our local yogurt shop). I'm not one for toppings.

I'm reading The Alpine Vengeance, but have paused that for the weekend. I'm participating in the Save Our Cozies Read-a-Thon. I read A Sheetcake Named Desire on Saturday afternoon and began Murder at Hatfield House with dinner -- I love that my husband doesn't mind my reading at the table. I enjoyed A Sheetcake... but I have some nitpicky comments due to being a native New Orleanian and knowing perhaps too much about the city. But it was a fun book. Murder at Hatfield House is good so far, but I'm only 4 chapters in. The Elizabethan period is a personal favorite for historical mysteries -- I read three other series set in the period.
QOTW: My biggest treat ice cream wise is a dipped cone. They were a once-a-summer treat when I was a kid and I still think of them as extremely special. For everyday ice cream at home, I'm a vanilla person with sprinkles or Hershey's syrup. If I get ice cream out, it's either in a waffle cone or a dish, with no toppings. I like mint chocolate chip, but save that for if I can't find anything else interesting. While not truly ice cream as such, citrus sorbets will always be my choice if available.
I'm reading The Bronze Horseman. I'm about 50% in to it. So far I'm not sure if I love it or hate it! I definitely look forward to reading it every night so there is that.
I don't actually like ice cream. Milk makes me queasy so it's just not worth the stomachache. I loved it as a kid though and my childhood favorite was cookies and cream. My favorite summer treat now is a fountain coke with lots of ice.

I am waiting for Eligible from the library. I'm next!
I'm reading The Color Purple. I don't know why it took me so long to get to it. I'm loving it.
QOTW: My favorite ice cream flavors are kind of boring, I guess. I'm generally into chocolate or cookies 'n cream. I prefer gelato to ice cream. When I studied abroad in Florence my favorite flavor was bacio. I don't like cones because of the potential mess involved.
I walked pass an ice cream seller that had MCC this afternoon. It's not at all common here, so inspired by this thread I stopped and bought a scoop. Good stuff!

I'm reading Before the Fall by Noah Hawley. I'm only a few chapters in but I'm really liking it so far.
I'm listening to The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. It's okay. I'm having a hard time getting in to it.
QOTW - I love any ice cream with coconut. My local shop has an amazing almond joy ice cream. I usually get it in a dish with rainbow sprinkles. My sensitive teeth can't bite into ice cream on a cone. Also count me as a MCC hater. Gross.

I'm currently reading The Kill Order by James Dashner and listening to The Good Lord Bird by James McBride. I'm not super excited about either of them, although The Good Lord Bird is interesting since it takes place right before/right at the beginning of the civil war. I'm doing a reading challenge, but I'm getting board with it since I really have other books I want to read, but they don't fit any of the categories I have left.
QOTW: First, I'm jealous that it's winter in Australia!! We're roasting here with 100* pretty much every day. I like waffle cones as long as they aren't cinnamon-y and just ice cream, no cookies/brownies with it usually. My favorite is Mint Chocolate Chip and I'll take white or green. jojoandleo, my confession is I don't love Amy's!! I mean, I'll eat it, but I'm more of a classic Baskin Robbins kinda person if I'm out for ice cream

I saw an interview with James McBride and the book sounded interesting (Well Read on my PBS station), but I hadn't yet ventured into requesting it from my library.

I may have to look up this interview! I read his memoir The Color of Water and really enjoyed it as well. He's definitely an author who's books are worth reading.

I like the concept of Well Read (~15-minute interviews with authors, followed up by reading recommendations related to the author or topic). I'm less thrilled with the interviewers that they have - I don't hate them but I don't love them. But even when I'm not interested in the book, I usually enjoy listening to the authors talk about their work and process.
I got hooked when a favorite author (Louise Penny) announced that she'd done an interview with them, so I set my Tivo and recorded several episodes before her interview aired.
