Also my H is probably voting for him. I am going to have to get a divorce. I can't be married to a Trump supporter. Fucking hell.
This would be a legit deal breaker for me.
I just...don't even know what to do. He has a hugely negative opinion of HRC with some good points. He is a progressive republican, pretty liberal socially. I don't know where it is coming from.

If he wants better options, supporting the Rs isn't the answer. He should vote 3rd party. Trump is NOT a conservative. Nothing he says tracks with conservative ideology. Anyone who wants a better option needs to quit voting for Rs. All they care about is being elected and reelected right now and they aren't even pretending. Republicans need to accept that they have to do their job and demand better - and the way to do that isn't to continue to elect anyone with an R behind their name just because you dislike or disagree with the D candidate.
He doesn't have to vote for Hillary. Unless the policies Trump espouses and support track with his beliefs, he should not vote for Trump. We have got to start demanding more from Republicans. They are failing at every level of their job and our job, as voters, is to force them to do better instead of worrying about omg who is going to be elected for the Ds.
Yes, I realize this is the opposite of the idea that we have to keep Trump out, but the Ds don't have this problem. They are putting up serious candidates that espouse liberal ideology. Republicans aren't. They are making fools out of everyone considering voting for an R.

So he can't vote third party? I mean there ARE options that don't compromise your moral compass.

Yup. I don't agree with the positions but I would respect my R friends and family members 100 fold more if they vote for Johnson over trump. I can disagree without being totally fucking disgusted by that choice. And shit that guy is dang near debate-level polling.

My dad is in Texas. I am desperately trying to get him to vote for Johnson instead of Trump. He said he won't because he's still mad at himself for voting Perot in '92 and allowing Clinton to win. WTF? Texas went red in '92 like it has every year in the history of forever. Your vote had *literally* no bearing on the result of the election. Texas will go red this year, too. Again, your vote will have no bearing on who wins the election. STOP BEING A MIDDLE AGED BLUE COLLAR WHITE MALE! I am quickly losing all respect for him. This makes me sad. I like my dad.

This is like my mom. But I can take comfort that in WA her vote really won't count.

I'm in a similar situation, and this may sound awful to some people, but we agreed that neither of us will cast a vote for president. We always vote absentee and fill out ballots together, and we will just leave president blank. He hates trump, but he hates Clinton just as much and can't stomach our house being net Clinton. I'm ok with his because I'm not worried about California actually going to trump. I can tolerate this more than him voting trump.
