This has felt like the longest week ever. I swear there were like three of every day.
Kid vent: This morning M decided that 4am is when he wanted to start his day, after already going to bed late and waking up twice for middle of the night snacks. Plus S nursed every hour or two. I'm grumpy and bitchy right now. So now we're past the daily tv cap and it's only the time we usually start the day. I can't drink coffee either because it makes S so sick. Happy Thursday.
amaranth What a rough way to start the day. I hope everyone can get in good naps.
I'm having an awesome week. Our building should be done today! Tomorrow is DH's birthday and we are having a date day and G will be staying the night at MIL's. This is only the second time I've been away from her overnight. I'm looking forward to the break.
Also - I had talked about replacing my washer and dryer months ago. Washer is 15+ years old and dryer 25+ years old. Well this week my dryer started having issues again. I was asking my mom is she had the same problem I had before and was going to call a repair man to check it out. That afternoon she called me and said she wanted to buy me a new set! OMG! So my mom and grandma went in together and got a new set for us. I'm THRILLED! What makes you happy changes so much when you get older! The new ones will be delivered on Monday. So this weekend is packed between date day tomorrow, moving things to shop/getting the laundry room all cleaned up Saturday, and Sunday going to the ILs for birthday celebrations.
I have a cold and L didn't sleep too well last night because she had gas. Imagine that my Facebook friends....She was so sweet this morning though....so, it was short lived
So many ((hugs)) amaranth...wish I was closer so I could come help entertain M.
((Hugs)) MrsMB glad she was happy this morning but still...
bk1- what an amazing week! Awesome you get an overnight date AND your mom is buying you a new washer/dryer! I love how much good support you guys have!
I slept horribly last night too. Started with more contractions (thankfully those calmed soon) and was up most of the night with pinched nerve pain in both shoulders/arms/hands.
BUT, nothing can ruin this day...I get to see a very good friend I have not seen in 3-4 years!!! As soon as C is awake we are heading to the beach to hang out with her and her family (she has 3 kiddos, the youngest is a boy 2--3 months older than C)!
Thanks guys. Praying for a big long family nap this afternoon. ha. I'm hilarious.
bk1 They finished that building SO fast! Will you post any pics? Congrats on the new washer and dryer. When we replaced ours it was such a treat to do laundry. haha.
MrsMB Omg, somebody is going to hear from you, right? I mean, 8 months is SO young for that. Some people don't even start solids by then.
I got called for an interview for one of the schools I applied to! Yay! It is in 4 weeks.
I need to work on a project for work that is due in less than 2 weeks. A refresher course for my coworkers on car seat safety. It will have to be on a storyboard and self-test, since I won't be available to go over anything with people.
AND I may be on a planning committee for our local March for Babies next spring. If I do this, I'll be the person in charge of the infertility awareness table. That's still up in the air; we're having an informational meeting in a few weeks. I know it will require fundraising on my part.
amaranth I was surprised the Director was on my side this morning. Of course, I played "Southern Coy" and didn't go in there with a lit pitchfork. She's going to say something to them when they come in. Of course, it's going to make pick-up super uncomfortable.....but at least I get to see my bay-bay!
pooh8402 I posted it on Facebook. DC gave her (and another little 7 month old baby) a cup of icecream yesterday in place of her baby food. I'm sure I'll get a few comments here about how, "Oh, that's HARMLESS!" But I wasn't thrilled one bit for several reasons. Had it been a spoonful, I would have side-eyed someone, but not been mad. It was a CUP. Plus, with her getting over a few minor ailments, I'm not thrilled someone gave her dairy and sugar that could aggravate what is getting better.

Yea, I wouldn't be too happy about that either, and would have spoken with the director as well. It's not up to them to determine what to feed your infant.
amaranth I know, I'm actually looking forward to doing laundry on Monday! Thankfully I was only 1 load from being completely caught up so I can hold off that long. And yeah I'll post pics later when they are finished. They worked last Friday and all of this week. Those guys work fast! DH has wanted a shop for 10 years - it's part of the reason we bought this house since there was enough land to build a shop - and I'm so happy it will be done in time for his birthday!

Hugs amaranth! hopefully M has (or will) give you a long nap at some point!
So we had a couple showings on our house the other night. Luckily I came home between them, because the first dumped a bunch of toys and an entire ball pit thing out in R's playroom. WTH?! There were literally balls strewn about everywhere. Who does that/let's their kid do that in someone else's house that they are touring?
MrsMB I would have been pissed. There are a lot of moms that try to hold off on sugary things until they're at least one. I feel like people would have gone in with pitchforks if it wasn't as nice of a parent as you.
MrsMB I will happily help you burn the place down if you so choose. My kid has had bugs where pedialyte was the only thing he could keep down or was miserable with, I can't imagine ICE CREAM. Ugh.
I have a weird confession/random. I'm 95% sure no one else has this problem. So we have an attached garage and store massive things of paper towels and toilet paper in there. I can't tell you how many times I've gone in there pantsless (or worse) and hoped to God that I either a) wouldn't accidentally hit the garage door button or b) my H unexpectedly come home and open the garage door.

That's so nice The more I think about the amount, the more furious I get!

Sorry anyastroud, that's stressful! Glad everyone is OK. That happened near our old apartment a few years ago. I was at home and heard a shot but didn't realize it at the time. There is an elementary school right across the street from the building I was in. I think they had a lock down when that happened. I didn't even realize what was going on at the time. No one even got hit which was good but how scary!
anyastroud I'm sorry! I'm sure I would be flipping my shit if my kid was at one of those schools too. I know anytime there's a "disturbance" near a school, the protocol is to lockdown. I know something similar happened on the news and it ended up being a domestic dispute but the school didn't want it to escalate and the person with a gun to try to get in the doors. The GOOD news is that they took action and made sure all possible threats stayed OUTSIDE the school. I'm sure they thought if they called parents that everyone would have freaked out and pulled their kids out of school even though the police knew the threat was over. Even still, I would be pretty uneasy knowing the school was on lockdown and no one told me. That said we used to get bomb threats in middle and high school and I don't think my parents were told about them.
So my middle and high school had several bomb threats throughout the years- one involving our ENTIRE high school evacuating to the football field and SWAT coming in. That was over 3,000 people grades 10-12. Anywho, my mom confirmed that the schools never notified her for any of them. She found out about the evacuation from me later on. So my schools really dropped the ball.
And then there was the one time A&M went on lockdown because someone "saw someone with an AK" and it was just a cadet with his practice *wooden* gun that doesn't even look real lol.
Today is DS's SECOND bday. We have had a great day. I was off but H wasnt and had a stressful day at work but we are enjoying our evening together. Saturday is DS's party.
