I'm about to start a reread of Harry Potter because one of my best friends is reading them for the first time. I'm so excited and pretty jealous of her. She likes the movies but hasn't read the books so I loaned her a set of them to enjoy.
QOTW: cake. I only want cookies if they're fresh and still warm.
I am reading The Likeness by Tana French, I am liking it much better than In The Woods.
Labour here in Canada too, nothing much planned. My BFF is coming over tonight and we are going out to dinner at our favourite French restaurant in the city. Lots of food and drinks.
Rest of the weekend will be spent doing nothing, H starts classes again Tuesday.
Cake for dessert but I also love cookies with ice cream.
I'm listening to Their Fractured Light. It's intriguing at about halfway through. I'm also reading Red Rook. It was a whim pick. I haven't given it more than 3% yet, so I don't think I can pass judgement yet.
We're moving this weekend! Woohoo!
QOTW: It has to be a really spectacular cookie to be eaten over cake. Though, I generally think pie is better than both. Or cheesecake!
I'm reading The Waiting Place, Hands Free Mama, and All the Bright Places. Really enjoying atbp, but didn't realize it was only an ePub when I requested it from the library so I am reading it on my phone. There's not a way to get it to my kindle is there? QOTW- heading to Baltimore to pick up our car that was shipped back from Germany. Definitely taking kids to the aquarium, but will see if the weather allows us to do an inner harbor tour or visit ft. Mchenry.
I'm reading The Cracked Spine (Paige Shelton), but I'll probably put that aside to pick up the new Louise Penny. I received it on it's release date this week (I'd ordered it in February), but I knew I didn't want to start it before the weekend, when I still had sleeping and working to interfere with my reading. Pesky things ... how long until I retire???
QOTW: I'll second the vote for pie as a write-in candidate, but otherwise, I'll go with cookies usually. I think of cake as a frosting delivery vehicle, so often I find it dry. Cookies can be hit or miss, but you can dunk them in a class of milk.

I finished The Infinite Sea last night. I still don't really know what I think of it. I'm...confused. I started Ugly Love this morning. Only one chapter in but Colleen Hoover has not let me down yet.
H has to work this week and I am on call so hopefully I get to sit home and read the majority of the weekend. We have 3 episodes of Stranger Things to watch so that will happen this weekend too.
QOTW: I also vote pie but cookied would come in over cake for me.
Finished reading Across the Universe by Beth Revis - YA, 3 stars Three historical romances by Maya Banks, Seduction of a Highland Lass was the best (4 stars - ignore the cheesy title) Three PNR books by J.C. Daniels (Colbana Files series) - the second book was awesome. The series in general reminds me a bit of Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews Any Duchess Will Do by Tessa Dare - 4.5 star historical romance, audiobook
Currently reading A Drink Before the War by Dennis Lehane - mystery/thriller audiobook. For some reason I am having a hard time getting into this A Fistful of Charms (#4 Hollows series) by Kim Harrison - PNR, and again having a hard time getting into this
No plans this long weekend - I live in Florida and the hurricane literally put a damper on our plans. QOTW: you really can't go wrong either way
I'm reading Beach Music by Pat Conroy and love it so far. Can't wait to curl up this weekend with my morning coffee on the porch and enjoy for a while. Favorite way to start my day.
I'm listening to (finishing up) The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass. I really like it as well.
Excited for the long weekend. I'm running a race with a good friend, and then just puttering around the house. DH and I will most likely go to the drive-in movies one night since the weather is fabulous and finally not scorching hot.
QOTW: it depends on the cookie or cake in question. I like both, unfortunately! eta: I would also write-in for pie- hands down my first choice!

I lost my ebook loan of Three Sisters, Three Queens because I didn't prioritize it and time ran out. Oops. I'm rereading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness because I didn't feel like going to either of my non-fiction books right now even though one of those is also written by Deb Harkness. My brain wants a narrative.
I'm off today to wait for the washing machine repair guy since DH has to do a funeral (he works from home and usually deals with repair peeps), so I'll be working on Monday. On Sunday we're going to our friends' house for a hog roast. Their daughter just turned 1, too, and she's ridiculously cute.
QOTW: Both! But if I have to choose and I'm making it, cake is easier because you only have to bake once. With cookies you have to keep putting trays in until all the dough is baked.

Which restaurant!? I was just in Montreal and Quebec City o want some crepes!

I am back home in Toronto now, we were in Montreal 2 weekends ago.
My favourite restaurant in Montreal is Garde Manger, but the one we are going to in Toronto is Colette Grand Café (google it, its so pretty! They film a lot of scenes from Suits there also, Rachel refers to it as her "favourite" café)
I am still reading Some Luck. I am 80% of the way through the book so the end is finally near. The book isn't bad but not great either. If I didn't have family and ancestors that farmed I don't know that I would have been able to finish the book. It is slow and not overly engrossing. I cannot see myself recommending this book to anyone.
Right now our only plan for the weekend is to take the kids to the science museum. Their dinosaur exhibit ends on Monday so we want to take our son before it ends.
Cake. I like cookie dough but I don't like cookies for some reason.
I'm reading Sting. I usually love Sandra Brown but this one is not grabbing me. I'm not sure if it's the book or me.
We are visiting family this weekend. I would like to just stay home and do nothing though! School is hard.
I read Sting last weekend and I didn't enjoy it as much as I normally enjoy her books. I can't figure out why either.
It's weird. The first few chapters had such potential but I feel like nothing has happened since. And I'm halfway through the book. I'm glad it's not just me! I thought maybe with my first week back at work in 6 years and DD's first few weeks of Kindergarten that I was just too tired to care at night, lol.
I just started the new Louise Penny -- very pleased to have the long weekend for it, though we're visiting my mom and travel cuts into my reading time.
QOTW: I think cake is better for an occasion, but I'd prefer to bake cookies.

That's how I felt too. Started off great but then was pretty dull. The ending was really good though!

I'm reading Bittersweet by Susan Wittig Albert. I'm enjoying it and it's a quick read for me.
QOTW: Pie would be my choice, but I'm serving pie for the meal in the form of Cornish Pasties. Pie at dessert would be too much pie I think. I've narrowed it down to a blackout cake (chocolate cake with a pudding-type filling and frosting) or lemon cookies made with mashed potato flakes.

QOTW: I'm doing nothing this weekend! Unless organizing my makeup counts? And you can't go wrong with either cakes or cookies. I have a gigantic sweet tooth.
I finished up The Machine of Death, I've made a tiny bit of progress on Children of the Frost and have started on The Boys in the Boat. I kind of thought Boys in the Boat was going to be boring because I'm not a big fan of books about sports, but so far it's mostly about surviving the great depression, and I'm learning some fun little tidbits about Seattle and the surrounding area.
No plans for Labor Day except being lazy and meeting a friend for coffee (or rather in my case a hot chocolate).
QOTW: It really depends on my mood and what the cake or cookies will be accompanying. For just random snacking - cookies for sure, but for a dinner party, cake feels like the better choice.

we did not go to Garde Manger but heard many wonderful things about it
Colette Grand Cafe IS gorgeous!! I will def check it out if I ever go to Toronto!

I felt the characters in the Likeness were much more captivating. Enjoy!
