I didn't Iike it either, but I don't usually like Cohen Brothers movies.
It's Cohen Brothers?
Is Nicholas Cage in it? I don't think I can watch if he's in it.
It's Cohen Brothers. Which, you know, even though i don't like their stuff, i will cheer for them at award shows and generally defend them as creative geniuses because they're from Minnesota.
I don't remember Nicholas Cage. I do remember Jeff Bridges, Steve Buscemi, and Julianne Moore.
First time I saw Lebowksi my roommate and I had drank a lot of wine. So when it got to the flying carpet scene, we were like, wait what? We had to rewind it (VHS!) to make sure we were actually seeing what we thought we were seeing.
For me its kind of like Zoolander. You have to see it the first time in the right frame of mind, and be ready to embrace the weirdness, and then its just awesome.
I love that we can't even stay on topic in a thread started to show newbies how to stay on topic.
I've never seen The Big Lebowski, either. Also, isn't it Coen brothers? That was bothering me.
Yes. It is. Can i blame auto-correct?
Always.
bex, Zoolander is amazing. Also, DH and I watched Wayne's World for the first time in years a few weeks ago, and we were dying. I forgot how funny it was.
No Nicholas Cage is in Raising Arizona, which is another Coen brothers movie
I love that one, too! Son, you got a panty on your head.
I like a lot of Coen brothers movies, and Raising Arizona is one of my faves.
"Do you have any balloons in funny shapes?" "No, not unless you think round is funny."
And of course, "Everybody freeze! Get down on the ground!" "Well which is it young fella? You want I should freeze, or you want I should get on the ground? If'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'm goinst to be in motion."
It's like I should like Big Lebowski, but I just hated it with a passion.

WW will forever and always be one of my favorite movies.

There is a brewery near me that has a White Russian beer and the night of the release party they were showing the Big Lebowski in their "tasting room/bar/whateveritscalled" It was really fun. The beer was also delicious. I can't quite figure out how they make it - it's a cream ale and tastes distinctly like coffee, creamy, with a hint of sweet. There are actual coffee beans involved in there somewhere, but coffee beans usually turn liquids, ummm...dark? So how does it come out the other end a dark gold?
