I think I'm going to put a counter on my wall at work: ___ days since a tantrum tweet from the Commander in Cheeto. I'm guessing it won't get much past 1. Winning was easy, old man. Governing's harder.

I think this count needs to be a pinned post. A nice continuous record of the nonsense tweeted by our national leader.
I love that he followed up that it's small groups of protesters. I really hope the million women march turns out so he can't deny that there nothing small about the amount of people who are protesting his presidency.
Someone took away his Twitter again. Much different tone...
Ugh.
This is actually worse than just leaving his dick remarks to speak for themselves. This is how he's been gaslighting us. It's this pattern of terribleness and denial, which is a total mindfuck. The handler clean up is supposed to make us think he's normal, like the prior tweets never happened, and gives them shit to go on TV and normalize him.

The conversation about the tweet was probably pretty entertaining. They convinced him he had to walk it back but he probably agreed he would only if he could say it's SMALL groups of protesters. He's such a petulant child.

I know we are all still in processing mode and I appreciate the attempts at levity, so I am not directing this to you specifically but just want to make a more general observation.
We are no longer in the SNL Kellyanne Conway's Bad Day skit. The jokes about them being a babysitter to a bumbling Trump, they are not taking the edge off for me any more. This guy is no longer some reality TV star on a vanity tour, he's on the cusp of being a dictator.
I want to find humor in Trump, and I think we need it to blow off steam. This thread proves it is still possible. But I think as we struggle to find footing in this new world we now live in, i think we are going to find the jokes about his antidemocratic behavior are going to fall increasingly flat.

I'm pretty surprised to read this. I have been incredibly vocal over the past few days regrading my fears of his leadership. I might have mispoken when I said it was entertaining but Make no mistake I'm scared shitless .
ETA I do appreciate your perspective and I'm glad you shared your thoughts with me.
He's whining that the protests are unfair? Isn't he the same one who said that he would only accept the results of the election if he won? Can you imagine what it would be like if Hillary had one? The amount of protests - not to mention whining and inciting of his base from Trump himself - would be ridiculous. Hell, he won and he's still whining!
He is such a national embarrassment. We are looking at at least 4 YEARS of his tweeting stupid, irresponsible, immature shit. It makes my head spin just to think about it.
And people voted for this pig. I still just do not understand. I don't get how you look at him and listen to him and think, "damn, he'd make a good president."
But I know several people who haven't voted in any elections, and were so moved by his message that they registered to vote. Wtf.

I did not intend it to be a criticism of you. It was more of a generalized observation on pre election jokes versus post election jokes.
As for my gaslighting observation, just so you all know, the Today Show this morning only reported on the second tweet. So the disinformation continues and if we thought Outlets like that we're going to grow a spine, there's no evidence of it yet.

Not only that, but I truly cannot fathom how he & his supporters would respond if he'd won the popular vote, but lost the electoral vote, a la HRC. (Sorry, I know I'm repeating.)
His backward logic is troubling. #understatementoftheyear

We need to start calling in, writing in, tweeting etc when we see shit like that going shit on the Today Show. These media outlets need to be called out on their shit!!!

This is just so... Fuck. I don't even know. We just elected a man who has such little self-control that he can't be left in charge of his own TWITTER account. Like, what is this world?

I really am going to be curious to see what happens in coming months. Between his ego and his attention span, being president isn't going to be ANYTHING like he expects. 1/2, no wait, 3/4 of the country (including those who didn't vote!), didn't vote for him. He's no longer going to be surrounded by people who love him at all these rallies.
And then day 1 in office, he's going to walk in, make some demand about what he wants done and expect it to just happen, and then someone is going to say "Um, well, this is the govt. that's not how it works".
And he's going to get BORED. If the waiting, of the politics. And add in all the hate towards him?
Yeah. this isn't what he wanted. He just wanted to win. He doesn't care about the actual job.

My local news reported on both tweets. Then again, I'm in Chicago and everyone is walking around like we are all at a funeral. So, I think the local news is going to be more anti Trump in their reporting.

You know what I just realized? The stress of this election, how badly we all wanted it to end and how excited we were for the stress to go away... It's not going away. We have 4 years of a level of stress that doesn't even compare to the election.
It honestly didn't occur to me that he would win. So when I thought about the days post-election and how nice it would be to be done with the commercials and the constant politics, I didn't consider that it could potentially get worse.
You're right. It's not a joke anymore. Before November 8th, it was easier to laugh at his lunacy because I never thought he could win. Now? It's the same as it ever was, but he is the person in charge. It's not funny anymore.
So very presidential of him. Maybe he should, you know, try talking to the people protesting them, and finding some sort of common ground? Basically do the impossible.

I Know π’ My friends & I are giving ourselves one week to mourn. Then we're On It: volunteering, researching, sharing, doing everything in our power to make sure this lasts as short & has as little impact as possible. Thanks for the great ideas & suggestions offered in the previous thread. I have to force myself to be optimistic that this is temporary in order to get out of bed π

This is like 1984 levels of contradiction. He needs a Ministry of Truth to erase the previous tweet.
Everything else I would say, others have said. I am saddened and sickened by it all.
edited because I do have more to say: I am afraid that the media is going to be gun shy after all of his crooked media rants. Under GWB, people who were critical got banned from the press room and he was notoriously thin-skinned (I can't remember the source, but will look if you need me to). This led some reporters to be cautious so that they wouldn't lose access. I feel like Trump will take this to the next level. I hope the press stands strong (and I plan to support them more than I have).
