Yeah, I think I get that. We're an embarrassment. Like I said, and really, as kicks said better than I did, I just don't think Karma needed to bear the brunt of it. There's a lot of people who are in a far better place who didn't get the ass kicking she did.

Anyway, I know it doesn't mean anything but I'm sorry this board has not been what people needed over the years. And more than anything, I'm sorry for the over things we all should have known better than to do. I somehow missed the whole "n" word thing with Tamb, but after reading that I tend to think people are right there's nothing worth saving.

I've been following this post since it started, and even commented that I would be interested in participating. I just wanted to throw my .02 in. I've lurked here for a while before I started chiming in on posts. That being said, I wasn't aware of the entire history of the problems that have gone on here.

However, I will say that over the past year or so of lurking I have learned a lot about people, different issues people in this country are facing and really how much I didn't know about it. I grew up in a large city and my school had a fairly diverse population, I work at an international school that has over 60 different countries represented, and have been in several inter-racial relationships. Only from reading some of the stuff on these boards have I come to realize that I was completely unaware of my own white privilege. This thread is the perfect example that I don't always recognize it. The fact that I can participate in a gift exchange with internet strangers and not have a worry about being targeted for a hate crime because of my skin color is an example of white privilege. I don't always get it, I am trying to figure it out though. I have been researching what it truly means to be a white ally, and trying to read examples of white privilege.

I know the WOC are fed up with this board and that really sucks because some of us do get it, or are starting to. And unfortunately the less WOC that are on the board the less opportunities for other people to start to "get it" (not that I think it is their job to educate us, the information is out there and easy to find!). Just saying that it's truly just a loss for us on these boards.
