I should stay out of this, and let this die down, but I can't. To play devil's advocate on the guns because I have this fight with my husband every so often, what's the point of a gun in the house if it's always locked up? Yes I get you want to keep it away from the children (as you should!), but how do you defend yourself in an emergency? Tell the intruder "hold on while I grab the key and open my gun safe?" Hence we don't and will never own a gun while I'm living in that home.
My husband is former military and wants a gun badly. I don't feel safe with a gun in my home for the issues mentioned above. He has PTSD issues he won't get counseling for, and now works in a civil service job where he faces a lot of situations that will give you PTSD. I worry for his safety and mine.
With that being said other people can own as many guns as they want as long as they use them responsibly, but please remember there may be concerns when someone doesn't want a gun. It's hard to test for mental stability, especially if the issue comes up after you've purchased the gun.

Thank you for letting me rant.
I have pretty much the same argument with my SO. He has one gun (inherited from his grandfather, a bolt-action, single-shot .20cal Winchester rifle) but talks about wanting more/wanting a handgun and I adamantly refuse.
We were talking one day about what we would do if someone broke into our house. He said something about handing me his rifle and having me hide behind the far side of the bed, in case the robber came into the room. And I said, "And how likely do you suppose it is that, in the panic and adrenaline rush, I would accidentally shoot YOU if you came back in the room in the dark?" He just went silent; and come to think of it, he hasn't really brought it up since. I think I might have won.

"I will probably shoot you" is a pretty unbeatable argument
I read another article earlier that said they had both been dating since the separation. I'm really surprised with the police involve and them both dating other people it didn't leak months ago that they had separated.

Nanda you'd be surprised! I tried to explain to my husband that I have no experience with guns and no business with guns. When I told him "I'd probably shoot my foot off trying to protect myself on the 2 nights a week he's not home" he laughed at me. "oh well you'll take a class" he says, no I don't want to take a class, I don't want a gun!
I thought the issue was tabled, but with the new president I think it will come up again. He went on a rant on Facebook after the election "defending" his vote. I was praying no one asked why he's former military and not a gun owner, I'm sick of "justifying" not wanting one so we don't have one. There's really no compromise in this situation.

I have a feeling that this whole breakup is just a publicity stunt.
BG is saying real and there is some good dirt that will come out (drugs, cheating, etc), including that they are broke and that's why they are 'working together' they need the HGTV paycheck to keep coming to avoid bankruptcy.

I could see issues like that. They claim they're always maxing credits cards and asking their parents for money (as previous stated in this thread). You gotta sell a lot of houses to make that kind of money back.
I feel horrible though, addiction is a tough thing to deal with. These poor kids having all of their parents dirty laundry posted online...but then again you're on a reality show so the world knows your business.
Do you think HGTV would drop them if more criminating details like drug use came out?

I had a friend actually do this to himself. His wife got home early and he didn't know it was her, so he grabbed his handgun and was walking to the front door to look out. He somehow shot himself in the foot or leg during this process and had to get it amputated. He was a licensed CC with gun experience.
This is why people who are all "I know what I'm doing!" scare the shit out of me.
Oh, and on your former military note- I had one guy when I was in the AF ask if my husband hated that I didn't allow him to have a gun and he was shocked that my husband was the first one to say we'd never have them in the house. DH still gets bugged by people in his unit why he doesn't carry since we live in "scary" downtown. ^o)

This has not been mentioned or an issue the last two seasons. I think they are far more established now than when they started. Doesn't mean that they might not have financial issues, but it is not brought up on the show anymore which makes me think their business was/is doing better.
No. Not poor Tarek. Still doesn't make the rest of it ok.
But we don't know what happened. I am not seeing much about him walking through the streets waving a A15 or whatever like they said in the beginning. Now I am seeing he came home and whatever happened, and he grabbed a backpack with his handgun in it (can a handgun be an assault weapon? I know nothing) and went into the woods behind their house, and she made a "suicidal male" call.
This all could be spin of course. I don't necessarily think running off into the woods because you are pissed (possibly catching your wife cheating on you) with a backpack and your (legal, not assault weapon) gun, because it is night and there are wild animals, is wrong. Smart? No.
Now if went off the deep end and was assaulting her and the kids and being a menace and a threat to others, yes, there is no poor Tarek.

We will probably never know.
I, personally don't care, but you're defensiveness of him is bizarre!
I was contemplating that I am coming off as a little crazy. I think I have a crush on him.

I'm so surprised HGTV is still running the same commercials like nothing's happened. I just watched one where they cuddle their kids and talk about their favorite Christmas traditions. Understand they want to promote the new season but geez.
No truly vain person would opt into that Yosemite Sam facial hair. He must be there for the steam room.
Too much! There's so much foolishness to go around, that Yosemite Sam probably feels fly as fuck. There's also a ginger with the most epic mullet I've ever seen, and a man (who must be in his 80s), who works out in a high school wrestling singlet. I'm not even touching the the outdoor pool girls, whose tiny rap video bikini's clearly aren't meant for swimming laps, and the girl in peek-boo mesh leggings, that clearly show her side vag. At least, since it was on display, she just said no to 70s Bush! :-# The place is amazing on all levels! Women shamelessly trying to trap wealthy men; wealthy me fooling themselves that they've still got it, pro athletes, and hand full of normal people watching the dynamics like this . So good! They can have all my money. I get killer work outs, friends, and a show each day with my membership fees.
Sign me up. I need something to keep me interested in the damned gym. Except everyone in my neighborhood monitoring each other - though that can be interesting lol.

Are you all talking about EQX in Irvine? My brother is a trainer there, so I've been in a few times when I visit. It's the most ridiculous spectacle I've seen...and I love it. I go to EQX where I live, but it's nothing like the Irvine club with its valet parking, full bar in the lobby, pro athletes, gold diggers and their 50-something male "victims."
If the weapon was in a locked gun safe, where the kids can't get it why does it matter what gun they had?
I loved their show.
Not to me. I freely judge anyone who feels the need to own the gun that appears in a google search for AR-15. Because I didn't know what that was, lol. But it looks unnecessary for any regular person to own.
You are judging people that have something that you don't know what it is but you don't like how it looks? I get that you probably don't like any gun, but know that an AR's only difference from a standard revolver or home self-defense pistol is the size of the bullet. It does not fire any quicker as all expend one round with each trigger pull. An AR is not an assault rifle, and its scare factor is purely cosmetic.
