My local sewing shop is offering a zipper class that's 25.00 for the class and supplies. I'm still so new at all of this that it tempts me. I have no project plans for zippers but it seems handy to know. Is this something I should look into?
Omg, do not take a class on installing zippers!! That's crazycakes. There are a fuckton of online tutorials for inserting a zipper. www.coletterie.com has a very good one for inserting invisible zips.
Although, if you try online and still don't get it, then the class would be helpful.
I've never done anything fancy like an invisible zipper, but the few times I've done them it wasn't any harder than sewing two pieces of fabric together. Didn't even need to change the foot. That said, I'm still very much a beginner, and I'm kindof addicted to taking classes, so I'd probably do it.

I've followed a tutorial for making a zipper bag and it wasn't bad. However, I did struggle because I learn by watching so I'd probably take a class if $25 wasn't breaking the bank. (Thankfully, I have a MIL who can whip up a pattern by looking at a dress, so I don't have to pay for classes anytime soon.)

When I use to teach 4-H sewing. I always did a class on putting in zippers in my basic sewing class series. Its defiantly a skill you will need, if you continue to sew. I wouldn't say its a hard to learn on your own. But if your a visual learner the $25 class will probably be worth it to you. So you feel confident.
I really don't think you'd need a class for zippers. I'm still learning to sew and I got it down pat 1-2-3, I just googled and checked youtube for tutorials.

I'd probably do it for $25. A chance to learn a skill with help available, a chance to sew with other people, etc. I have a love hate relationship with zippers still, so I might take the class even now.

This. I would kind of like to take a refresher course in zippers. I have done costume work for so long, and often made my partner do zippers when we actually needed them, so I have lost a lot of the skills that give things a polished look. A poorly done zipper screams homemade, and not in a good way.
I think there is a big difference between learning something from a video and in person. I like in person, (with help and feedback right away) for learning basics, and videos to remind me what to do or to show a shortcut or an alternate method.
