Omg how scary! I'm so glad you're ok.
I can totally see convincing yourself you're ok. I remember feeling legitimately insane after giving birth. I probably would've believed it if a doctor told me I was pregnant again with a grilled cheese or something.
Enjoy those baby snuggles and take care of yourself!
OMG I'm so glad you're okay! Pre-e and eclampsia are so scary! I had pre-e with my 1st pregnancy, and my BP didn't come back down after delivery. I had an ocular migraine (no pain but "blinded" for about 20 minutes, freaking me out completely) about a week after delivery, but that was the worst of it, thankfully. I didn't have any BP issues at all with my 2nd pregnancy. I hope you're all better now!
I'm so sorry. I had post partum pre-e and managed to stave off the full blown eclampsia with bed rest. I had a bad, bad headache and nausea and no appetite and just felt terrible. I called my Doctor, who sent me straight to the ER. I am upset the doctor sent you on your way. And I'm sorry you've been so sick. That is so scary!
I also had postpartum pre-eclampsia. I was luckier than you though. They were keeping me at the hospital for four nights anyway due to my C section, and the night before we were due to go home, a very vigilant nurse caught that my blood pressure was going up. She had to call a doctor and he was rather blase about it but she was persistent.
Right away they got me on a magnesium drip. That was the worst part because my veins kept collapsing. My arms were covered with bruises and they had to keep calling in more personnel that were usually good at getting IVs in. The magnesium is to prevent seizures. They also came in and padded the sides of my bed in case I had a seizure. That was sort of freaky.
Anyway, I stayed two more nights and went home on blood pressure meds. My BP never got back to how low it had been before my pregnancy though.
I was luckier than you because it was caught at the hospital and I didn't actually have a seizure. I shudder to think what could have happened if that nurse wasn't so on top of things and I HAD gone home the next day.
I am glad you are okay now and able to be with your son and H and enjoy this time. It sounds really scary and I am sorry you went through that!
The mag drip was the worst. It left me feeling like shit for days. I'm so glad I'm not on that anymore.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and commiseration. I'm definitely feeling much better now, and I really hope no one else here has to experience that awfulness. So take care of yourselves!
Man, eclampsia, that's what Lady Sybil had on Downton Abbey. How scary for you and your H! I'm glad you're getting better and bonding with your DS now.

I'm so sorry that uou had to go through all of that! I hope you start to feel more steady soon (anti-seizure meds are rough) and that you get to spend some quality time with your baby.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this and am glad you're recovering ok.
A friend of mine experienced something similar-she had postpartum eclampsia despite never having preeclampsia during her pregnancy. Like you she was dismissed by the ER doctor and obgyn on call as having anxiety. The on call obgyn had the audacity to tell her she'd been googling too much. It's so frustrating that doctors can be so dismissive. There is much to be said of our intuition that something is just not right with our bodies. Doctors need to LISTEN to their patients!
If it gives you hope, she has made a full recovery despite being in pretty dire condition when it was finally caught and treated by another doctor. Take good care, and hope your recovery goes smoothly.
Holy shit. I'm glad you are ok. How scary for you and your H. I agree with PP - make sure you accept as much help as you can so you can rest and enjoy time with your baby.
With everything we know about PPD and PPA it's still infuriating that the dr told you to just suck it up. Those can be so serious as well, how unprofessional of him.
