The only way you would be able to tell is to go directly to their FB page link when logged in as yourself, and then try going to it when you're logged out of FB. When you're logged in you should get a "The Page You Requested was not found" error, but you'll be able to go to it when you're logged out.
Do you have any backdoor ways of finding a picture they might be tagged in, along with another friend of yours. If your friends name shows up, but not the blocked persons, they most likely blocked you. I don't think you can search their name either.

This is just the weirdest situtation. My gym class instructor had to cancel class 5 minutes before it was to start for a family emergency, so I sent her a note saying that I hoped everything was ok and now I think i'm blocked. I'm like "Ok?" I would feel weird going to her class now and its my # favorite class. It is my only "me" time and I'm pretty bummed out right now. Dumb

Search for them. If you could find htem in the past and now you can't they blocked you. If you KNOW they are on FB and you can't find them in a search you were blocked

She's not on my friend list. When I search for her, it tells me the page is not available. I looked at some old FB messages between us and she's listed as "Facebook User"
She may just want some privacy from students/co-workers, etc. I'm assuming you were not friends and you just searched for her and sent her a message?
No, no..I've been going to that class for 2 years religiously 3 times a week. She friend reqested ME 1.5 years ago. We always chat, send Happy Birthday messages, and even went out for drinks a couple of times. This is not me stalking her out and asking if shes ok. This is just a friend expressing concern. That's why its strange. I'm not THAT creepy :-|
There was no family emergency, she canceled to do something fun and is worried that one of her friends will tag her in a photo about their awesome day/night out, and that you would see it and she'd be busted. So she blocked you. I'm sorry you had to find out this way.
She could have deactivated her account. My mom and I got into an argument about a passive aggressive comment she made on her's last night and the next thing I know, I can't find her page. I thought she had blocked me, but she had just deactivated her page (she didn't want the dramzzz anymore. Whatever mom)
Anyway, maybe she just deleted her entire profile? Otherwise, people are dumb and I really do hate facebook. Sorry pitts
I got defriended recently by two people I haven't seen or talked to in eight and three years, respectively. I don't know what crawled up my vagina but against my better judgement I sent them both, guess I updated too much, sorry about that, have a nice life messages then I was like WTF DID I JUST DO THAT FOR, CRACKHABIT YOU MORON then I blocked them.
Then I douched out my vagina.
:Y: If she's at the gym, I may just go ahead and ask her what crawled up her ass. Maybe she quit the gym or something and blocked all of us? I feel psycho even asking about it, but I'm sensitive, yo.
Also, sometimes FB is weird - I'll be able to see someone's public page one minute, then not the next, then again an hour later - which I don't think has anything to do with the user changing settings, but just general FB glitches.
She might have also created a friends sublist with all her gym clients that blocks you from everything and after her non-family emergency night will ease up on the access again.
I would actually go the the next class and make a joke about it...like "just because it wasn't REALLY a family emergency doesn't mean you have to block me hahaha" type thing.
Maybe she deactivated? When you're blocked you can't see any trace of them at all. It's a wonderful feature really. But if you can see past comments I'm thinking it's something else. Not sure though. It's weird either way. Just act breezy at the gym. You don't want to mess with your free space.
