I called into the OB since I've been having what I suspect is ligament pain, but just on one side and it's really annoying. I'm guessing I strained it somehow? Ugh.
My ultrasound yesterday went fine. Baby girl's kidney still has extra fluid on it, but not an alarming amount. They want me to come back again in 4 weeks. I'm not worried, but it is a little inconvenient to miss so much work for this.
We saw my son's urologist yesterday too. He had/has the same kidney issue, except his is on both kidneys and a larger amount. The doctor was pleased that nothing is getting worse and might be a little bit better. So he doesn't need us back for another 18 months. We told him about the baby's kidney and he talked for a bit about what he what recommend after birth (much less than we did for DS). It was nice to have that quick 5 minute convo and not have to come back separately.
So funny thing came up at my ultrasound yesterday. The nurse was taking my history and asking for a list of medications, etc. When I said the baby aspirin, she said, oh that's for the MTHFR, right? I was a little confused for a second. She said she thought she saw that in my chart from my previous pregnancy (I went to this same MFM with DS 4 years ago). Now I'm really confused. How would she have known that. We didn't test for that til last summer, after my 3 miscarriages. Did my doctors really know about this 4 years ago? Could this have saved me some trouble? At least it would have saved me the $337 I was charged for the test this past summer. Maybe the nurse was just mistaken. Maybe it wasn't really in my chart. I wish I had thought in the moment to ask her to go double check. I have an appointment with my regular OB tomorrow, so i'm going to bring it up. I wasn't under her care 4 years ago, but I was in the same system, so she should have access to my old records. I guess it's all water under the bridge now, but i would really like to know.
mpc, that is weird - would they not have gotten your records from the doctor that submitted the testing? My MFM group has all of my records from all of my doctors, as it's all under the UPMC umbrella.
knx9211, my OB and the MFM are in 2 different health systems in 2 different counties. Maybe we don't have any specialists like that in my area? It's kind of like sending me to the "big city" for better care. My RE isn't connected to any system, as far as I can tell. (he's also the only RE in my country.) I'm not really sure how much of my info my OB sent to this doctor. Actually, I'm not sure how much my of records my OB got from the RE even.
When I was newly pregnant with DS, my OB at the time sent me for a bunch of standard blood tests. Insurance denied paying for 2 of them since they were "genetic". I honestly have no idea what the tests really were, so now I wonder if MTHFR was one of them. But why would she have tested that. And if it came back abnormal wouldn't she have told me? It's all very strange to me. The simplest explanation is that the nurse yesterday was wrong, but I'm still going to ask questions about it.
This has already been posted elsewhere, but we may be TTC again sooner rather than later! Dh told me night before last he wants my IUD out. After discussing more last night, we agreed to take it out, but replace with the nuvaring so I can reverse it more easily. I also have a call in with my RE to discuss process and timeline to transfer my embryos to an RE in my new city after we move.
G22 you give me hope that he'll eventually outgrow it. He goes down between 7:30 & 8:30 now so I can't really push back any later and he's tired at that time. He wakes up babbling and ready to go.
mpc glad everything went well with both appointments.
Growth ultrasound today showed her measuring 33+something. Today is 32+1. Also, she weighs exactly 5 pounds today, and they are estimating 9#1oz at birth..... I was expecting like a 6 or 7 pounder.
Also, I was down 4 pounds myself today. I think it's probably just from the past three days. They aren't worried though, as long as I have a little gain at next appointment. They said baby girl is perfectly on track though.
I posted on MM but baby S had a gi X-ray today and she has pyloric stenosis and possibly something else. Going to see a pedi GI next. Just scary bc it might mean surgery. Poor baby, breaks my heart.
Other then the projectile spitup she is a happy baby! She is smiling more lately!
lms, hopefully it's just phase and he starts sleeping in soon then! I feel like Z has done this a few times and then eventually goes back to normal wake up times. I could never pinpoint why he did it. Now he has a music aquarium on his crib, as well as a couple stuffed animals. Those things seem to buy me a little more time when he wakes up early because he'll play with them for a little bit.

Every male in H's family has had this. H had surgery on it when he was a few weeks old and his parents told me how hard it was for them to let him go into surgery but it was life changing and made such a difference. He still has a scar from it 33 years later.
Got my IUD out this morning! Got a Rx for metformin, so I'll be restarting that, and a Rx for the nuvaring, and am undecided on whether I'll restart that. I'll pick it up anyway. My OB sounded excited, so yay! She also had a NP student with her, so we got to chat and I allowed her to do an exam (ought to, since I'm going to be the one requesting practice exams in about a year or so). The student was like, wow you're so educated on all this. Yes, well I work in mother-baby, learned a lot about reproductive health in my IF journey, and oh yea, I'm a NP student too. Haha. She was sweet.
My blood pressure was 162/70 today, so I'm doing a 24 hr urine collection. It did come down when they retook it later in the appointment. I also have to go back to see the OB again next week to recheck. I've never done the urine collection before. I begged her not to make me do it at work. It seems so awkward. She said I can do it Sunday/drop it off Monday morning.
Good news - I passed the glucose test! I got my rhogam shot today. And, my OB checked my records and found no mention of MTHFR in my first pregnancy. So probably the nurse the other day was just mistaken.
Had my first OB appointment today and we LOVED him! He's about 70 and totally hilarious. He was with us for over an hour. Bad news...he's leaving in MAY. BOO. But we did a pelvic exam, breast exam, blood work, swab. They wouldn't do an u/s since I've already had 3. He could tell I was upset so he did get out the doppler and they found the baby's heartbeat so that made me feel a lot better.
He said he could feel my uterus which it was a little early for but that everything else looked good. He was also very concerned about my hemangioma in my liver. Apparently estrogen can interact with those which NO ONE has ever told me. Just great since I've been on pretty high doses multiple times in the past 2 years.
I go back for my NT scan on the 15th. I have conference day so I won't have to get a sub. I can't wait to see the little bean again.

I'm sorry to hear about your little one's medical issue starryfish.
I hope your pee collection goes well mpc, and your blood pressure behaves itself for a few more weeks.
NJ has a new program this year to give all expectant moms a baby box. You have to watch videos online about safety and caring for a newborn, then you get to pick up your box. I got mine this morning - it's so cute! The outside of the box is a beach theme, and inside is a little mattress, a pack of diapers and wipes, some breastfeeding supplies, and a onesie. The box is used for a safe place for baby to sleep. Thanks NJ - what a great program!
