I just want to point out that you can be pro LE and pro BLM. One does not mean you are anti the other. I support both groups. Just like not every LEO is racist, not every BLM member is anti cop.
Of course you can be supportive of both -- a lot of BLM supporters are. I haven't seen too many pro-LE with BLM signage together, but I'm sure they are out there. I always try not to label an entire group for only a portion's behavior, but I do admit that when I see any kind of pro-LE signage, it throws up a red flag and I do automatically associate with anti-BLM. I've just seen that connection too many times.
If the only LEOs or LEO spouses you know don't also support BLM, you need better LEO/LEO associated friends. You need to stop associating with racists.
I have somehow managed to not have this issue in my life.
::waves to OscarQ:: I'm in the group, too (and responded to the post, actually). I mostly see that flag in profile pictures of people who call the BLM movement racist.
Oh hi! I didn't realize you were in there too although I should have guessed.
They're trying my patience but I haven't found a new home yet. May try out the peace group. I hear they're pretty organized.

You think these are people I associate with? LOL! These fucking people are loud and proud out in the community. Our sheriff dept is full of racist pieces of shit, and the people out in the rural county keep voting in sheriff's that perpetuate the culture.
I hadn't considered it anti-BLM, but only because I started seeing them locally after 2 police officers were killed in an ambush attack by a white man. I haven't seen it any any other context so I don't know whether it is also a rally symbol for anti-BLM or blue lives matter (more).

Yeah. I live in a bubble. But I thought everyone was saying I keep seeing on FB. I think I had someone share something from a Blue Lives Matter page and a blocked being able to see posts from that site. But I think that only happened once and it wasn't even something "bad" I just hate seeing that phrase.

I think I misread the question - I thought it was about Blue Lives Matter. For that, I stand by my answer. However, "thin blue line" is a totally different manner. For me, my reaction to the thin blue line depends on context whereas my reaction to "Blue Lives Matter" is only negative.
yep. all the cop support. they all love him. he is the greatest.
i should have put an * on my statement.
did any union really endorse 45 officially or was it all just usual 45 bluster? i think i wrote it off as bluster or that ONE union in ONE state endorsed and 45 ran with it
Can I ask you genuinely, would you fly the flag with the blue line or put the decal of the flag on your car?
I don't and never said I did. I honestly think it is stupid for any cop to do so because it makes you a target. Cars have been shot at because they have the sticker on it. But it was done originally I think to get leeway from other cops when you were a civilian. You could only buy them from a small number of places and you had to have credentials. I don't know how it is now. I have never seen anyone fly a thin blue line flag.SaveSave
H is an LEO and we would never have those stickers or anything identifying his job on our cars for exactly that reason.
However, I also have been hesitant to have anything with the thin blue line on it because I do think people would think it would mean we are anti-BLM, which is not the case at all. I don't want to be lumped in with the Blue Lives Matter group, and it does seem that there is a lot of general confusion between the two.

I thought the FOP endorsed him.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They are basically assholes. But not all police departments are represented by FOP. Some have Teamsters as their union and I think there are some others.

I think the flag with the blue line that pixy posted is the image for Blue Lives Matter, but I am not sure, I really try to ignore that. Even if you took this image and wrote Blue Lives Matter on it, it is not thin blue line. They mean and are 2 different things.
I know the history of The Thin Blue Line (dad is a cop). However, the only time I see this posted on social media is by racists after a BLM protest.
I am just going to have to disagree with every damn person in this thread. 1. Thin blue line has been around forever. Before BLM, before 9/11. If I am not mistaken it goes back to the 60's. First it was a big secret. Only people who were LEOs knew what it meant. There is also a thin red line for fire fighters. Just because a group of the 700k LEOs in this country has used the thin blue line with the all lives matter nonsense, does not mean that all law enforcement agrees with it. It is a symbol of police, a symbol of community. It is something that was around that no one noticed or knew what it meant unless you were part of group.
There are so many black officers who believe in BLM and have the thin blue line somewhere in their life.
I will never understand why people are in such an uproar if a negative characteristic is attributed to any group, but it is ok to do so with law enforcement.
Yeah. Let's just sit and braid each others hair how's that?

And I've not seen it used that way. I have only seen it when an officer is killed in the line.

The only time I see the thin blue line symbol on my OWN fb feed is when my very liberal, proBLM, LEO/Military family member changes his profile picture in the wake of a police shooting...
However, if I start clicking through the comments of something posted publicly I see a wide assortment of things conflating anti-BLM/Blue Lives Matter and that symbolism.
So...I see why people would associate the two. I basically operate on a case by case basis.

same. and the people I see on facebook who use it aren't police, or tied to police, so it's not about showing solidarity for them. they just want to make a statement of what "side" they're on.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen near me it seems like the blue lives matter crowd has been coopting the thin blue line for their racist message.
I used to see it from my uncle's wife (my uncle is a retired officer) when an officer passed and knew it from there, but now I see a lot of anti-BLM stuff with the thin blue line on it. It's really disheartening.
People definitely want a binary "you're with us or against us" attitude as a general thing and seem to mistake BLM with being anti police instead of its true meaning, and they have coopted symbols of supporting the police as part of that.
