shoeless , DD still gets up for a bottle MOTN 50% of the time. I feel your pain. She used to STTN back when that meant going to bed at 10pm and getting up at 5am, but now that she sleeps 12 hours it's hard for her to make it all the way through.
Misery loves company? Its nice to know I am not alone!
For those of you who have had nannies, what was the hourly rate you ended up paying (if you don't mind answering)?? Also, was that 40 hours a week, or something less?
Honestly, I feel like we underpaid ours. We live in a LCOL area though. $10/hr, roughly 25 hrs/wk. She was part time because I only work 3 days a week.
What a cute announcement King26! So happy for you and I LOL'ed at your "reply" to the surprise question. thoseareradishes Love that name! It was on our finalist list if we'd had a girl. Hi shoeless! Hi konapoppy, Congratulations!!
C survived his 8 week shots surprisingly well. It was almost a non-thing. All my worry for nothing. Has anyone had a LO try Zantac for GERD? We're considering it.... Four more weeks of ML for me. We tried to go to the mall today, but he got sick twice in the car and was screaming, so we just came home and napped. I almost think he gets car sick because it happens so frequently. We're going to try to go to a few mommy/baby classes this week-story time, yoga, etc. I just love being his mom, it's incredible!
E was on zantac until 6 months for GERD. He basically spent his first 8 weeks screaming, until I took him in for 2 month shots, and our doctor heard him and was like, "yea I think your kid has reflux," just from listening to him. He got a history and we tried the Zantac and it worked and he was a happy baby. Still spit up frequently, but he cried a lot less.

When I lived in CA and did some nannying I got closer to 20-25/hour. But I was in a VHCOL area. I think I could have gotten more.
And that was when mom was in the home as she worked at home...
Anyone else currently pregnant and want to talk names??? I absolutely love talking names, even though we have ours picked out!
We picked our girl name years ago. Other names I like are Hannah (H likes it too) and Isla (H would not use this one). H likes Rebecca, which is my grade school best friend's name so that would probably be a little weird for me. For boys, we had a tough time; I think we settled on Daniel, and I don't have any other boy name I particularly love, but I haven't really thought about it much since we knew the sex for this pregnancy very early on.

DH suckered me in with a K name for this one. He caught me at a week moment and was like, "I would just like her to share your initials! My two little KJs...the two most important women in my life." and I straight up bought it...hook, like, and sinker.
That said, Kaitlyn was on our short list, along with Abigail, Charlotte, Elizabeth, Madeleine and Nora, and we both picked it at the same time, but I love the other names too! I clearly need 6 girls.
What are your ladies thoughts on two middle names? I had always wanted to use Elizabeth as a middle name, but Dh felt it was too long. So, he suggested Aurora, and I absolutely love it. Would Kaitlyn Aurora Elizabeth just be way too over the top?? Obviously, we'd never use Elizabeth...

oneslybookworm - I'm so excited for you! And now I'm going to give you New Orleans recs because I love it there! ACME Oyster House - chargrilled oysters there are my favorite Galatoire's - if you want to do a nice dinner out, I love this one Mother's - get the Ferdi special Cafe du Monde - classic Southern Candymakers - it's a candy shop in a little yellow house across from the fire station in the quarter and it's one of my favorite places in the world Go to the French market, and City Park is beautiful too. Ride the trolley down St. Charles. The carousel bar in Hotel Monteleone is awesome - go at an off time so you actually get to sit on the carousel. Also Tujaque's bar is a favorite as well.

Oh! Keep the recommendations coming!!
Is Galatoire's a dress up place?? I doubt we'll be taking a bunch of dressy outfits, what is the appropriate attire for there and Mother's?
oneslybookworm, I have been seeing more and more people with two middle names. I don't even give it a second thought. I like both middles!
I had a major anxiety attack last night about the baby and G's leg being broken and feeling so overwhelmed. I finally called the doctor this am and they got me in for a reassuring heartbeat check. Little guy was moving all around and his heartbeat was perfect. Ultrasound on Thursday!

Mothers is super casual - basically a cafeteria line-type place, but so good! Galatoire's is a nicer place - probably requires a jacket for guys.
OSB, I'm so excited for your trip! Both for baby and for the New Orleans fun. Definitely check out a show at Preservation Hall. The last show is usually the easiest to get in. If you're a history buff, check out the National WWII Museum. It's amazing. I have a ton more recs if you want. We tried to go down to New Orleans at least once a month or every other month. I miss it so much. Make sure to spend some time outside the Quarter if possible. So much good, non-touristy stuff close by.
Baby's had a cold the past few days. Up crying and miserable on Sunday. Probably one of his worst nights ever. Poor guy. Last night was a little better and I got a few hours sleep. He looked so much better this morning though. I've got a sore throat and am all stuffy now. Yuck.

Oh, send the recommendations my way! I'm all about the food and what's fun to do!
I had my GD test today. I didn't hate the drink until the last 1/4, then I really had to choke it down. Then I got really woozy and nauseous. They look for up to 135 - mine was 137. GOD DAMMIT. So I'm going back for my 3 hour test Friday. I am not looking forward to it. I just assume I'll get really, really sick.
I'd been joking with my team at work about this test for a while. So to let them know I'd be out Friday, I just sent a light hearted whining email that "It is with great sadness that I announce that I failed my test." followed by specifics on me being out Friday. BAD MOVE, SELF. They all FLIPPED OUT after reading the first few words because they thought that something bad had happened. SORRY GUYS WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR A WEEK SORRY I'M STILL CRASHING FROM SUGAR AND DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING
For those of you who have had nannies, what was the hourly rate you ended up paying (if you don't mind answering)?? Also, was that 40 hours a week, or something less?
We paid $300 a week for 25 hours. We also paid holidays / vacations / etc. if she worked more than 25 hours a week we paid $12.50/hour, but if she worked less we still paid $300.

oneslybookworm, Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Madeleine were all on my short list! I also love the middle name you picked, but that is the current town we're living in, so that was nixed. H nixed those first three though, and I fought for Elizabeth for the middle name, but it is just as long as the first name we decided on, so I have to put aside Elizabeth unless we do decide for a second and land up with a second girl.
our final name is a longer one, that is similar to the ones you listed, and has multiple nickname options. Middle name will be after H's dad, who passed away a month ago.

Thanks shoeless, pooh8402. C was in rare form at his 8 week check which is what made the pediatrician notice the GERD symptoms even before I could bring it up. The thing is though, he doesn't always have them. Some days are worse than others. He's a good sleeper, but he's been in a Rock n Play since coming home from the hospital. He struggles when we lay him flat to change him. And in the car seat. And during burping. You can tell that spitting up hurts him though by his facial expressions. I guess there's no harm done by doing the 2 week trial though, right? How did you elevate his crib mattress Shoeless? I'm going to see if daycare will do that because he will sleep in a mini-crib there and I'm not sure if he'll sleep flat.
knx9211, sorry about the test results and your joke falling flat. I would have laughed. I hope Friday isn't too terrible.
H tried to teasingly guilt me about something yesterday, so I told him I was doing the hard work of growing the orange seed-sized baby lol.
My focus at work has been terrible, and I really don't see that changing much over the next few weeks (months?) which makes me feel even worse. Any suggestions on how to concentrate?
I am on day 3 of a migraine and just so miserable. It's only 10am and I'm about to bail on work to go home and curl up in bed.
I had an ultrasound at the MFM yesterday. At 32+3 they estimated baby weighs 5lb 2oz. That seems like a lot, no? yikes. I did another NST and it took a while because she was being a lazy little thing.
Anyone else currently pregnant and want to talk names??? I absolutely love talking names, even though we have ours picked out!
Did you see my thread on GP a few weeks ago? Our current choice is Eliza (short for Elizabeth). I'm not completely sold, but we are living with it for a while to see how it feels. My absolute favorite was Nora (short for Eleanor) but DH had no love for that one. I love Madeleine but wasn't sure how I would want to pronounce it - "len" or "line". I love french names but I get really hung up on pronunciation. I minored in French and studied there in college, so I feel like a lazy american pronouncing them the americanized version, but I feel a little like a douche saying them with the french accent, since I'm not actually french at all.
My H has this thing about nicknames too. He wants our kids to have/go by a nickname, whereas I would prefer to avoid them. Neither he nor I has a nickname, so I'm not sure where he got this fixation. When we were having a boy, I loved Peter and Philip, but did not want a Pete or Phil, so we had to scrap those.
Our next big debate is middle name. We briefly brought it up once, had totally different ideas, and haven't touched the subject since.

mpc, I totally feel you on names. I was shocked DH and I were able to reach a consensus so quickly. He actually suggested the middle name, and I fell in love with it, so that was easy. I haven't broached using two middle names with him yet...we'll see how that goes.

Oh I meant to say my H actually has 2 middle names. They are maiden names from both sides of his family. I don't think it's been a big deal for him - the most trouble he had was his mom being pissed that he only listed one when he graduated high school, so he made sure to have both on his college diploma.
He actually suggested 2 middle names for this child, and listed a bunch of surnames from both our families as possibilities. I personally have no strong urge to give my child my maiden name as a middle name, so I'm having trouble jumping on board this idea. I'm not opposed to 2 names in general though, just at this point there's really only 1 I want. We will see where we end up on this!
I think 2 middle names is fine. I've seen it done with the newborns at work. I also am in favor of using maiden names as middle named. My maiden name is also a common male name, and my sister used it as my nephew's middle. I didn't because my sister already used it (I know I still could have, but meh) and I really really like E's middle name and wanted to use it.
