Yes! They still do, every day! I am watching now, lol.
I always wished they would bring it back. Just like it was. I haven't seen an equivalent ghost story show. Most are super cheesy. Just thinking about some of the episodes gives me goose bumps. Â
Me too, I think about them bringing back all the time. It would be nice to have an updated show following the old stories.
In the early 90's two high school kids were stabbed to death at West Coast video where they worked in the town I grew up in. The case is still cold and was on unsolved mysteries. The one kid lived on my street and I know they received a lot of good tips from the show but nothing enough for a suspect. I always think about that case and all the other unsolved cases.
We just bought a new place, and I don't really think it's haunted, but I've been freaking myself out a little thinking about creepy what-ifs (especially after reading things in this thread!). The only really scary thing that's been happening since we moved in is my husband has started sleep walking, sort of. Or at least, getting up out of bed and doing weird things while half asleep. Like, I woke up in the middle of the night and he was standing at my side of the bed, looking at me from different angles. When I freaked out and asked what he was doing he said "who are you?" I was all "it's me! What's the matter?" The he just said "nothing, it doesn't matter" and went back to bed! I kept asking for a bit but he'd fallen back to sleep. He did remember it the next day, but he said it was like a dream, and he thought I was our DD.
Another night I woke up and he was staring at the bookcase in our room (with his back to me). I asked what he was doing, but he just kept saying "never mind" and eventually came back to bed. He didn't remember that at all the next day. And one other time he got up for the day at like 4am. I woke up a bit but fell back asleep, and when I asked him in the morning why he'd gotten up so early he said he'd woken up and thought he saw someone standing in our room, but when they saw him looking they left, so he got up to go after them. Of course there was nobody, but after that he was up.
Anyway, after that I freaked out and started talking about maybe our new place is haunted, but he said he's had that dream before (in different places he's lived), so I guess this is just how he sleeps when he's stressed Or maybe my husband is haunted instead of the house. Now I just keep worrying myself at night, thinking things like "what if I look out the window into the dark and someone's looking back at me?" Or walking up the stairs, "what if I turn around and there's somebody else there?" And instead of looking and proving to myself there's nothing there, I just avoid looking and hurry up to bed or back to the living room or whatever I'm doing.
berbles - that is so creepy about the window! I'd have smashed it all down!
All of the electrical stuff going on or off is definitely a power supply thing, battery or wired. Or a poltergeist of course 😉
I don't believe in ghosts but I admit that I am becoming more and more chicken with age. That combined with years of watching scary movies and if home alone at night, I will run out of the toilet without looking ahead as it faces the stairs and the dark basement hall... (no actual reason, just classic serial killer/monster hiding place, lol).

I would be freaked out if I woke up to DH standing at the side of the bed staring at me!!

I keep reading this over and over and can't figure out what it means or what it might be an autocorrect for. Why do you have a motion sensor under your dresser?
Duh I probably should have explained more....It's a motion sensor for a string of lights under the dresser so at night if I need to get up I have a little light for walking to/from the bathroom. It stays on for like 20 seconds maybe. So the lights kept going on and my cat wasn't in the room walking to set it off.
Uhhhh---we have a motion light in the hallway and it went off a few weeks ago in the middle of the night, but everyone was asleep. I figured the dog got upstairs somehow, but my H said in the morning he was in his crate. It never occurred to me it could be a ghost. My H told me it was probably a fly. LOL.
So, my mil was convinced we had ghosts in our old house. There were a few strange things that would happen (TV turning on and blaring super loud in the middle of the night for no good reason. It wouldn't happen every night, so I know it was not every night, so I know it wasn't a timer situation. There were other things too, but I can't remember what they were), and then my h and sofia had pretty similar nightmares a few months apart about the house crumbling down while we were inside.
Anyway, she insisted on doing some of her...whatever she does, and she light a candle, went to the spot she felt the "energy", and asked the ghosts to go into the light of the candle (as some sort of portal), and please leave, go to rest, etc, then blew the candle out.
I mean, I don't know if I believe that our house was haunted, but she swears it was and it made her feel better to her thing, lol, so whatever.

I do this. And it has nothing to do with ghosts. Those are just creepy scenarios and too much Criminal Minds. Lol
And my H used to sleepwalk when he was a kid and does that weird half awake/half asleep thing when he's super tired or super stressed. It's not fun to experience when you are also half asleep.
Does anybody remember the show Unsolved Mysteries? They always did the best reenactment of ghost stories. This thread is making me think of that show. They used to show old episodes on lifetime. <side tracked>
All these stories are creeping me out.
Yes! They still do, every day! I am watching now, lol.
Like, the real ones with creepy Robert Stack hosting???
DH sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and sits up in bed for a few minutes while he gathers himself together to get up and it freaks me the fuck out to see him just sitting there all still. It reminds me of paranormal activity.
Ok this will sound really dumb. I don't actuslky believe in ghosts, but I think we have a ghost (if that makes sense, lol). Our house is very old and when we moved in about 3 years ago DS2 started having very consistent nightmares in his room and was always pointing to one corner of his room when scared. Once he told me someone was sitting there (he was 2 at the time). One night over the monitor when DS2 was crying (I was ignoring to see if he would chill on his own) I distinctly heard someone going "shhhhh! Shhhhhh!" over the monitor as well. Then DS1 told me he saw a ghost on our back stairs (that go down from the kids' rooms) in the middle of the night.
Sooo.....I don't know if I really believe in ghosts, but my friend sent me an article on what to do with a ghost and it says something to the effect of "speak calmly and firmly to it" lol. So one day I went into DS2's room and asked the ghost to please stop scaring the kids. ....And the nightmares almost went away (he still has night terrors when sick and still points into that corner when he's in the middle of one, but it's way less).
So, go speak calmly to the ghost.
(I'm not crazy, I swear)
My aunt died 1 week after my first son was born. She hadn't been able to meet him before she died, but she did call me the day he was born, excited that I'd had my first child. A few weeks after her death, I noticed my son kept intently staring at the same spot in his bedroom. I always felt spooked when he stared at it, so one day I said out loud "I'm glad you're here to visit and make him happy, but you're scaring me. Please don't haunt us anymore." After that, my son completely stopped staring at that spot in his room. I totally think it was my aunt coming to see him, but once I let her spirit know that it was scaring me, she left.
Same thing happened when DD was a baby but I didn't have someone who just died. ALWAYS at her middle of the night diaper changes she stared up at the corner from her changing table and smiled and laughed. This was the first couple weeks when she was too young to actually smile. I basically said the same thing and it never happened again.

One of our TV's does this whenever the power goes off and on, it scared the crap out of me! I think H was out of town and I just laid in bed terrified that someone was downstairs watching TV. Because that's what a burglar would do, break in and watch HGTV.

We've had things happen in our house. My sisters and I messed around with a ouija board and "something" answered. It stuck around the house for a good long while. I had forgotten about it mostly until we bought the house from my gpa. We moved in and things started happening again. The dogs, who slept with us, started full on protection barking in the middle of the night. So my husband, who was fascinated by my story, decided to have his cell phone ready to take pictures if it happened again. Dogs started barking, he sits up and takes a series of flash pictures. Nothing showed up in the pictures, but nothing else has happened either. I think it was afraid of the paparazzi.
FTR, my grandparents built the house we have. The only person who died in it was my great-grandmother. My grandmother made her presence felt while we were remodeling, and I had to tell her to knock it off. That I knew she was upset that we were changing the house, but that we were going to take care of it. She left after that.
I'd be so freaking pumped. If it was a nice ghost. I'd love to believe in the supernatural but have no reason to thus far. This house is almost 100 years old so come onnnnnn, haunting. Someone had to have died here.
Disclaimer: sorry if this feels disrespectful or flippant to anyone who has been scared by these things. But I'm very into it.
Lol. Me too. I just told my mother a few weeks ago I wish I had a friendly spirit living in my house. But we built our house, so :/
I don't think I believe in ghosts anymore really, buuuut we moved into our house in October and one of the neighbors, upon introducing himself to H, mentioned that the husband of the woman we bought from hanged himself in the garage in 2014. H sat on this info for a couple of months, and in that time period L started talking a lot about an imaginary friend named Leah, and one night we were in my bedroom and she very clearly looked past me and waved to someone -- I'm sure because of those things I just felt really uncomfortable, especially upstairs. H finally did tell me a couple of weeks before the two year anniversary, so the morning of, before work, I went into the garage and just said I was so sorry to hear of what happened, that I hoped he is at peace now, and that we love and will take care of his house. I felt completely ridiculous and it might have only served to make *me* feel less jumpy, but L stopped talking about Leah shortly after that and things have been/felt fine here since.
So though I'm conflicted, because the mind is a really powerful thing and a great trickster, I vote that it can't hurt to burn sage and/or ask any potential spirits to leave.
I thought sellers had to disclose any deaths in the house? Or maybe there's a statute of limitations on that disclosure?
I asked our realtor about that and she said it's not deaths - it's more like murders.

The old Unsolved Mysteries are now streaming on Amazon. I tried to watch one on the train once, in the middle of the day, surrounded by people, and the opening theme music freaked me out so bad I had to turn it off. Couldn't even get thought the opening credits, lol!
The fact that I used to watch those in my basement, alone, at 11:00 pm on a Saturday night at like 10 years old . . NEWP!!!

I was only convinced I was in a haunted house once. It was when my XH and I were house hunting. The realtor took us to a new listing that was in our price range. He hadn't seen it yet, but it just came on the market and was in our price range, so we went to take a look. The whole house felt bizarre from the moment we walked in. The wiring was super old, and the light switches were push buttons instead of switches. The appliances were very old, like 1950's-60's ish.
The three of us were on the main floor, and at the same time, all of us heard a very distinct, "Hello?" coming from upstairs. Our realtor was freaked, because he was told no one would be there while we were viewing it. He told us to hang tight for a minute and went to talk to whoever was there. He came back a few minutes later and said no one else was in the house.
