Thanks everyone, we really appreciate it. This weekend was probably the worst Mother's Day to date, but I got through it. DH and I have booked a trip to Colorado for next week, just to get away. I think both DH and I just need to unplug for awhile, especially from work and people we know who know about the baby and now the failed match. People mean well, but...there's really nothing they can say and it's human nature to fill the silence with words. I think we'd both just rather get away for a bit to let things die down, then when we get back hopefully people will have moved on and stop asking (even though they mean well).

That sounds like a great idea. The weather in CO is awesome right now so hopefully it'll be a perfect break. If you need any recs, let me know

I'm always up for recommendations. We're staying in Denver the full time, but traveling to Rocky Mountain National Park and Garden of the Gods, as well as Boulder. What would you recommend for things to do, food, etc.??
oneslybookworm, as someone who's also suffered a very public loss I think the trip is a wonderful idea. You and your H need time to process and grieve, and getting away from everyone who knows about your situation will do you a world of good. In response to 'well-meaning but nosy' questions, it's okay to tell people "I don't want to talk about it." You can also have a trusted colleague let everyone know you don't want to discuss it, which should hopefully cut down on people wanting to talk about it.

I live a couple minutes outside of Boulder. My favorite place to eat is called Basta. Amazing food, creative menu, & everything is made in a wood fired grill so awesome smokey flavor. I highly recommend Chautauqua Park for hiking, St Julien if you are looking for some r&r and relaxing and Pearl Street is great for shopping. The celestial seasonings tour is also pretty fun, we've done it several times. If you are going through Lyons/Estes Park to do RMNP & on a weekend, head out early, traffic can get heavy as it's a 1 lane road for a while of it.
Garden of the Gods is breathtaking. I like to bring a lunch in, find a place to park & get as lost as possible. Be prepared for the red dirt though, it stains when wet

oneslybookworm , I'm going to chime in with Denver recs, too! For "city life" kinds of things there are tons of breweries to visit; I'm more of a wine drinker and enjoy the Infinite Monkey Theorem but the RiNo neighborhood has tons of places to bar hop. A newish fun restaurant named Avanti would be a good time, lots of food carts and a great view of the city. Rockies games with Pavilion seats is also a nice summer activity. Enjoy your trip and I hope it heals your hearts a little. (heart)

Second on the Infnite Monkey Theorem. A delicious restaurant in the RiNo district is Acorn. It's inside The Source, which also has a few boutiques, a bar, and a brewery.
Pearl Street in Boulder is SO CUTE. I had to go to Boulder a couple years in a row for a conference, it's a really neat place. Not a great place for me personally because I get altitude sickness REALLY easily, so just make sure to chug lots of water.
I hope you guys have a really good time. You deserve it. <3
The Rio in Boulder is great for south of the border fare and their margaritas are massive. I second the St Julien Rec for some r&r. Pearl street is great to walk and shop. This is a great time of year in Boulder because finals are over and students should mostly be gone. Lyons has a great brewery, Oskar Blues and is on the way up to RMNP. Estes Park is cute but it might be chilly up there this weekend, we are supposed to be getting snow the next day or two. I haven't been to Boulder in a while even though I don't live far, but I spent 4 years in college there and then got married in Lyons.
I'm really late on this, but I'm so sorry to hear about the match failing. I hope you and your H are having a lovely trip to Colorado and getting your mind off things. Big hugs to you.
