Yes and it is horrific. The police really stuck their thumbs up their asses on this. They had the rally the previous night, so none of this should have been a surprise. They should have been ready and acting and instead sat back and let it get out of control.
I am not shocked that this is happening or that the police have had such a poor response. If it were POC behind this heinous acts, you would 100% see a different response.
Those that are surprised/shocked/whatever about this? That is your privilege.
H's racist family always post crap on Facebook after a terrorist attack by ISIS, condemning all Muslim people. I am this close to posting something on Facebook in regard to this and tagging them and saying their racism is showing. Fuck this shit.
“I thought it had something to do with Trump. Trump’s not a white supremacist,” she said.
I can't roll my eyes hard enough. Get your heads out of your racist asses and realize that is exactly what he is. And he won't speak out against them for that reason and because they gave a shit ton of money towards his campaign.

Well, you can remind them that these "hate" groups are all Domestic Terrorist groups. That is what they are, plain and simple.
I mean, I'm not shocked at all. Sick, enraged, disheartened, yes. But this is exactly what Trump promised. Swap out "great" for "white" in that campaign slogan and you have the bald truth of it.

At the American History museum they have an interactive, for lack of a better term, exhibit regarding the Woolworth counter sit ins in Greensboro, NC. One of the signs the actors were carrying read, "Make America Great.... Desegregate". I have been trying to look up if the slogan was used in the 60s or if this a comment on Trump or both.

Apparently my shitty BIL was there. He was not on the right side. My brainwashed sister is trying to convince me it definitely wasn't a nazi rally and started trying to tell me about the evils of "mainstream media"

are you...going to keep speaking to them? this is beyond.
Yeah no shit. You need to have an intervention for your sister or cut her out. verycontrary247,
THEY ARE FUCKING NAZIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are they raising little Nazi kids? We need to stop the fucking cycle. Help stop it.

So, those guys with the Nazi flags and doing to the Nazi salute were ... what, then? Imaginary?

Do other people in the family know? Your friends? I was thinking about what ifs. Like, what if I saw my brother, or my dad, or one of my brother-in laws/cousins etc. in a pic, what would I do? I came to the conclusion, in this hypothetical situation, that I would have to publicly identify them and sever any relationship I had. What do your parents think? Do you have any other siblings? Do you have any lifelong friends who know and like your sister who are not aware of this?
I promise I am not saying this in an accusatory fashion towards you. I am wondering what it is like to actually see a family face there and have to make a decision.

Paid libtards to make the right look bad? MSM manipulation of camera angle?
I know I'd never speak to her until she saw how awful she is. But I don't think there's anything I could do that would be effective. Disheartening research shows that basically the more you try to debate someone the more they entrench.
This is my sister that I don't see often and is moving across the country next week. I made it extremely clear I do not agree with her.
the one who's pregnant? with Nazi's baby?
lol swell! as long as you agree to disagree.
this fucking place.
Yes.
She's heavily in denial- in the "not everyone there was a nazi!" group. Like he's a conservative only there to preserve the Robert E Lee statue. Come on.
See, I would probably call her and my BIL out on FB so all my friends and relatives know what scum they are. You do those things, you wear that badge, and you deal with the consequences.

This can't be the first instance though. Are you trying to tell me that they've never said anything racist or antisemitic in your presence before? Because folks don't just wake up one day and go to a fucking Nazi rally.
She's not local, we don't see them often, and when we do it's in a family dinner kind of scenario. Aside from knowing BIL is a confederate civil war reenactor and a gun happy republican, I've never heard them say anything racist or anti Semitic.

The fuck you say. It would be a cold day in hell when I break bread with a CONFEDERATE reenactor, you Mensa candidate.

Nooooooope. Time to cut them out. Forever and ever amen.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
DD asked today what's happening and it is so hard. "But WHY?!" kills me every time. You know, if racist pieces of shit had any self awareness they would question their actions and knock it the hell off. If an 8 year old understands hate is ridiculous, wtf is wrong with grown ass adults? Ugh.
I will never understand the war reenactments. It is not about remembering or honoring those that were lost, it is about not being able to let go of a time when we legally treated other human being like property. Honoring barbaric practices.
I mean, does any other well developed country do this!?

You are Nazi/racist adjacent and you don't see that your only option is cutting her dumb ass off? You don't go to holidays with these people. My idiot inlaws extended family voted Trump. I won't be going to the state the reside into break bread with them ever again. Nope right out of the family. It's better to be lonely than racist.

I think I remember them doing them annually for Bonnie Prince Charlie. And I've seen samurai reenactments. But, no, not the same. Not the same at all.
I kind of get period play acting. I had a great uncle who was super big into renn faire and jousting. Also kind of a barbaric time period, but they got all into the making their own chain mail and shit. Whatever, not for me, but I get the theatrics of it.
But we're talking about the fucking confederacy here. With someone who went to a nazi rally. I just cannot fathom this. I'm pretty sure you had plenty of warning before yesterday.

Exactly. People are doing it to cling to a "way of life" that was taken from them! It's about never forgetting.
Jousting was more sport, though I agree that time period was pretty rough.
