Until we got our new car I though xm radio had gone the way of the CD once smart phones and blue tooth came on the market. I guess this posts shows a lot of folks still use it!
Do you know who the XM target audience is? Because before we even saw the Brietbart program pop up on the dial my husband and I were both thinking that XM is for white male baby boomers just based on the sheer number of 60s/70s rock stations we found.
I'd say you are pretty spot on.
Interesting!
Do they care that they have a lot of stations that are dedicated to male artists but not a single one dedicated to female artists?

I've had XM and then Sirius for 8 years since I moved to a rural area that's 200 miles across empty stretches of I-80 or I-90 from major cities. I have my favorite stations. I rarely deviate. During the election, I had POTUS programmed, post election that preset became MSNBC. Otherwise I listen to music. Occasionally I find NPR, or a baseball game, but I haven't listened to Patriot Radio.
y4m, I was a customer who didn't cancel a subscription on a car I sold back to the dealership for 2 fucking years. I had no idea it wasn't done until I called about a stolen unit and they started asking questions about which unit was stolen. So yeah, I totally can imagine that they don't care about their customers.
I guess I'm the outlier; I'm two months into my trial period and I rarely listen to it. The sound quality is terrible and about 70% of what the stations play is crap I don't want to listen to. H loves it, though.
I use Synch to stream everything I like to listen to from my phone.
DH has it on his truck & really likes to listen to MSNBC, NPR, and some other channels...
Can he stream those on Pandora from his phone?
I’m pretty sure you can stream NPR through your Bluetooth because NPR streams in general. Don’t know about MSNBC but I don’t think it’s on Pandora. Pandora only has music it seems.

Part of why I pay for Sirius is I drive old cars and it’s a bitch to listen to music from my phone. I’m currently in a 2004 and I’m probably still a few years away from an aux in port without replacing my stereo, but I like my stereo and don’t want to replace it.
I'll be honest, I can't live without the 80s on 8 (semi joking). It's been replaced with PopRocks. I don't listen to talk radio, so I had no idea any of those channels even existed. It is a pain though to call every six months when my promo rate expires and it goes up to regular price.
I only drive 3-4 times a year and I get so excited when the rental car has Sirius XM. But we are usually driving 3-6 hours. I actually debated getting a unit just for our apartment since we don't have a car, but I'm not sure I would get reception in our building.
We have it. I have an old channel list that it is not on, and I was not aware of this station. I think we paid for the year, so we'll see if it is still there when it is time to renew. I'll look at the petition.

There are places where you don't get data signal. Sadly, there are a lot of those not far from here... Even on some of the major interstates near here.
Streaming from your phone isn't always an option. And if you don't want to listen to country, the radio options are limited.
