I am really enjoying this game. I am a fan of the series but I really disliked Syndicate which I felt like had you doing the same type of mission over and over. I was hesitant to purchase Origins because of Syndicate but they have thankfully changed the game play for the better. I'm really early on in the game.
So it's up there with Black Flag, which for me is the best AC game. I've played all of them except the original, although I played syndicate and unity begrudgingly and for the cityscape but they were so bad. I'd heard the revamp was great for origins so wasn't too hesitant to try it.
It looks so beautiful. Climbing a pyramid, and looking over the landscape was one of the most fun bits so far. I like the changes in the combat, and the different type of missions haven't got boring yet. As usual, I hate the modern day stuff! I'm really interested in Egyptian history now. I've already checked out some books from the library to try and learn more about their gods and dynasties.
I'm about 40 hours in and feel like I'm only about half way through the story.

just I downloaded Black Flag but never actually played it. It's sitting on an XBox my H let his friend borrow. I think last I saw we were only 14 hours in to Origins although we played this weekend so we have a few more hours under our belt. I say we because my H and I play and take turns. It's how we started the series and have kept up the tradition with this and other games.
I haven't played all the games in the series because after the first few I burned out on them and one or two would release and I would skip it then get the next newest. My favorite has to be the first one. I remember watching the trailers and it talking about the game being an open world and and being able to climb up walls and do parkour which was not something I had seen in other games I played.

Yup finished it a month or so ago. You? What you think?
ETA: It doesn't shift Black Flag as my favorite AC game, it just didn't have the 'fun' factor. But it's the best in a long time. The graphics blew me away, and I loved just drinking it in. It's one of the few games where I cleared all of the side tasks, puzzles and collection. The only thing that was frustrating was playing as Aya. At that point I had leveled all the way up and had the weapons I liked, so being forced to use hers was kind of annoying. But I did generally like playing as her, and kinda wish she had been the main protagonist.
I loved Bayek as a father though and the way he interacts with kids in the game is super sweet.

just we haven't finished it yet because life has been crazy. I don't know how many hours in we are and we are playing the side quests but haven't gotten to the point where we play as Aya. Are you able to level her up as well or is her part in the game play small? I do miss playing and had hopes of playing this last weekend but I ended up playing a quest in Witcher instead. Agreed on the graphics! They are suburb. I was also getting a little bored of the quests that have you clearing compounds and felt that was repetitive.
I played a ton of short games over Christmas break...
Gorogoa - super fun artistic puzzle game What Remains of Edith Finch - narrative based game, 3 hours at most but interesting, pretty, really pulls you in Firewatch - A really great game, again narrative but really engaging, great voice acting.
The weather here makes me want a longer game to get my teeth into. I tried to pick Horizon Zero Dawn again but just can't get into it. At this point I think I need to wait for Far Cry 5 in March.
I got 95% of the way through the Witcher and walked away for some reason. I don't know why because I did enjoy it.
itsme , ETA: Also sorry for the Aya spoiler. It's not a big spoiler to be honest but I still feel bad

I haven't played Far Cry but H is a fan so I know he'lll be getting the new one. I'm actually interested in it too. He took over my PS4 so he has no choice but to share with me now. Red Dead Redemption is also on my list. I enjoyed the first one and the zombie version. Oh and The Last of Us 2....a must for us. We ended up buying a few games during Black Friday but haven't delved into them yet because we were stuck on Resident Evil VR.
I haven't played any of the shorter games like you mentioned. I always end up with these long drawn out saga ones like Skyrim and Witcher. Goroga sounds interesting to me though. I need something lighter sometimes that may not have a storyline.
