Ugh I'm so sorry. My dad was like that. I would look for him at my school concerts that he said he would attend and he was never there - he always had "appointments." Just sucks. just be there for your kids.
I am so sad for your kids and for you. I hope you and your kids are able to have a wonderful Christmas despite the blow, and wish all good things for you and your children in 2018.

I am so sorry for your kids. I cannot understand how a parent (1) makes this choice and (2) thinks they can spring this on their kids a few days before the holiday.
Honestly, my bio dad was completely absent when I was a child. While I can't understand how a parent makes that choice, I am actually grateful I didn't get yanked around like this.

Thanks ladies. I'm just so pissed for them. And the whole thing about seeing him for his birthday just really got to me. You can't be bothered to celebrate Christmas with them but they should make the time for your birthday? My sister had rearranged her work schedule to be off on the day we were going to celebrate Christmas. I know we'll have a great day but it's still hurtful to them. Thanks for listening.
