We started with PB and then moved to other nut butters like almond and cashew, etc. Once we were comfortable with her not having any allergies, we moved to a mixed nut butter to give her a wider exposure (Trader Joe's has one that is great).
DD1 has allergy to pecans & walnuts (but eats PB often). For DD2, doc said to introduce PB at 6 months, so we are about to start that. She also has eczema so I’m nervous she is going to have allergies as well

DS2 is 7 months. He has little interest in solids this point, he might eat a spoonful on a good day but mostly spits it out. Pedi said not to worry, he'll eventually come around. Once he starts actually eating solids we'll introduce it, probably in the next few months.
I did it yesterday for the first time. I put it in with smushed bananas and warmed it up then added his oatmeal. I held my breath as I fed it to him. I don't know why I was so nervous, no one in our family has food allergies (well, I'm lactose intolerant but I don't really count that).
I should be doing something with tree nuts too?
I would. My son had a bad rash after I had trail mix around 2m when I was nursing. He got PB around 5m, then almond butter shortly after. No reactions. I thought we were okay but then he had hives and vomiting to cashews at 15m. I would do a variety of tree nuts as they aren’t all related — almonds, cashews, walnuts, and hazelnuts should give you good variety. I really wish I would have tried cashews earlier and more often.

My doctor wanted PB introduced as soon as possible. I didn’t start solids until almost 6 months with DD and she didn’t take to them very quickly. The doctor actually suggested mixing some PB with milk or formula at least once a week to get it in her. We never actually did it though. She was ok with PB mixed with banana purée.
