We found this series and both A and I really liked it! I’ve been on the search for a chapter book series that had a female lead that wasn’t a princess or something and that wasn’t Junie B Jones(I really don’t like those lol).
Zoey and Saffarass. We read the first one and just put holds on the rest at the library! I actually found myself enjoying reading them.
Avoid Captain Underpants. 😝 Andrew got a box set for Christmas and he’s obsessed, but it’s a lot of potty talk and gross humor.
He’s also really into Roald Dahl, but I pick and choose which ones I let him read. I feel like some of them aren’t appropriate for a five year old. Add in some of the Magic Schoolbus chapter books and that’s about all the fiction he reads.
(He reads these by himself, usually at bedtime or in the morning, so I’m a little strict on what I let him read, since I’m not around to explain any tricky situations.)
Usborne books has really good chapter books for kids. There is a series that Jack loved called “Hey Jack!” That Charlie is starting to enjoy now. There is a another set called Billie B and she is Jacks best friend. There are others geared towards girls Too, but I don’t know what they are

I almost bought some of those books, both Jack and Billie B, but I wasn't sure if they were any good. I will have to get some!
I didn't like Junie B Jones either. We've been listening to the Judy Moody series in the car and they kind of remind me of the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary.
B loved How to eat Fried Worms, and I'll admit I was enjoying it too.

I will definitely look for those in the library next week. W really likes A to Z Mysteries. He also likes Magic School bus, My Weird School, Humphrey, Flat Stanley Adventures and The Bailey School Kids books. He likes Magic Treehouse, but they seem to scare him a bit.
