I was told to just shower as normal and just not scrub the incision with soap. I showered (with help) the day I got home from the hospital, so about 48 hours after they were born. I had staples so I didn’t have any tape reside. The public health nurse who come to my house to do the mom & baby checkup took the staples out. I think it was 4 days post c/s.
I showered within 36 hours of my c/s. I had dissolving stitches, staples, and tape. I left everything where it was, and just washed around the area. They said I could get it wet and that it wasn't a problem. Once the staples were out, they covered the incision with fresh tape and told me to just keep the tape on until it wore off, which I did. The adhesive stuck around for a bit, which was annoying, but eventually the incision site healed enough to the point where I could scrub the skin without it hurting.
Congratulations! You are definitely safe to shower after about 24 hrs. I was in the hospital almost a week and I think it was day 2 that the nurses and DH helped me shower. I was still cathed due to bladder damage which made it all a bigger production. If you feel uneasy standing in the shower, have your DH wash your hair over the sink or put a chair in your shower. You will feel so much better once you wash your hair!
In the hospital they told me to wash my hair and body as normal, but just let the soapy water run over my incision. I had staples and steri strips.
Also, thank you for reminding me that this is an issue I need to bring up when I talk to hospital staff about shortcomings in the nursing staff during my delivery. Literally nobody told me I could take a shower! I delivered just before 1am on a Tuesday and didn't shower until Friday because I kept waiting for someone to tell me I could. I don't know why any of the nurses thought a first-time mom would have any fucking clue that I was allowed to shower without being told so!

Congratulations!! Baby oil and rubbing alcohol worked for my adhesive. I also used some Benadryl gel and cortisone cream on some of the more reactive spots - my skin gets weird after delivering.
Like @angryharpy, after my first cs I was not aware I could shower for a few days. I showered the day after DD was born and daily thereafter. No touching around the incision and gentle pat dry.
One of the best showers of my life was that one after my second cs. I had brought my own shower stuff and sweet lord it was a great shower.
