I've been buying more and more dresses for this very reason. Otherwise I just wear black pants or jeans with the same tops over and over, I'm terrible with accessorizing with just makes it that much worse.

I love dresses, and what you stated and this is one of the reasons why.
ETA: I don't mind matching, and have pants and skirts in all of the basic colors, I just like the ease of throwing something on and calling it done. Same thing for suits. Wearing suits isn't out of the norm where I work, but guaranteed people will ask you of you have a big meeting. Frequently, my answer is no, it was judaism easy to put on.
I love dresses, too, but I have a bad problem of buying tons of wrap-style black dresses. I'm not sure anyone can tell that I'm actually wearing different clothes every day.

I am always meh about tops. I swear tops are impossible to find. I did just find a cut Chambray top from ON because I want to try to embrace the trend.

Most of my pants are black. I have one blue pair, one grey pair, and one green pair. It helps cut down on the brain energy of pulling together an outfit.
Hmmm. See I wear pants because in the past dresses only brought attention to my stick-like legs. Things are different now when you are 25lbs heavier. (I used to weigh about 112-115lbs soaking wet.)
If you do want to buy pants, my suggestion is to stick with a neutral bottom first. You really can't go wrong owning a pair of black, brown, white, or navy pants. Honestly, I don't have a ton of pants. I have: 3 - pair black pants (1 suit pant, 1 reg black pants, 1 linen) 4 - white (1 chino, 1 capri, 1 denim, 1 linen) 2 - navy (1 wool blend for winter, 1 suit pant) 3 - brown (dark brown, multi color brown for winter/fall, light brown for summer) 1 - tan - it's a heavy weight that I wear in fall/winter
All of those pants are over 2 years old. I just don't buy pants as often as I do tops. With my list - I don't own any colored pants. I buy classic pieces that I can wear for years and years. I'm going to branch out and get a pair of mustard skinnies from someplace, but I typically stick to neutrals because it's easier for me to buy a different colored tops and accessories to make it work.
Also, find pants that you love. Then buy from that store. I don't care if I look like a LOFT or The Limited Whore. Their pants fit me well. They hold up for a long time, so, I just buy them from there. My BFF buys all her pants from Express. She loves the Editor fit pant there. Whatever works, just works. If you are on Pinterest, there are a gazillion Fashion Boards (I highly recommend Smo's pin board) where you can get ideas.

Since we seem to have a dress post going here... has anybody seen anything they like for the fall? My dresses are pretty summery but I'm looking to maybe branch into more cool weather dresses that can be worn with tights or leggings.

I saw some cute wrap style dresses at Lands End today.
I only like leggings with tunics, not dresses.
I saw a huge selection of tights at many different stores today
We can hang out in pants together! While it's not technically true, H jokes that the only time he saw me in a dress it was at our wedding.
The only thing that differentiates my wardrobe between seasons (back when I experienced them) is the heaviness of the coat. Otherwise it's jeans, black, grey, navy pants with a top in various shades of blue, green, and the occasional coral for fun. I have looked like this for, um, over a decade.
I love dresses too because I can NEVER find pants that fit well. I have a long waist-to-inseam and now an awful post-baby belly, so I can't find anything that's comfortable and/or flattering except dresses.

I  dresses. I think they are so comfortable. I hate wearing shorts, but I like pants. I pretty much only wear dresses during the summer. I just ordered this dress over the weekend, and I can't wait to get it. I really hope it fits my weird post baby body.

This is a hilarious autocorrect
Oh my goodness, I just saw this. LOL, I should pay more attention to what I'm typing.
I admit, my idea of an outfit is basically pants, a shirt, and a necklace. I'm not fancy. And I rarely wear dresses... because I hate having to shave my legs every day. Yes, I know. I'm a hippie.

yes, Lands' End has some really nice ones. I'm loving this:
