Complaining. It is harder than it sounds. I have done it before, but I prefer to do something that actually makes a difference. Giving up a food, meat, etc. does not really give you time or energy for reflection which is part of the idea behind giving something up. I have considered adding something, but I don't have any ideas of what that might be at this point.
I love this! I'm not Catholic and don't really have the tradition of giving something up, but usually try to add a good habit instead. My good habits have generally been gratitude-related, but I really like the idea of tying reflection/positive thinking specifically to replacing complaining/negative thinking, not just in addition to it.
I need the low down on FoF sandwiches. I've never had one. Are they really that good? The only thing I ever order at McDs are cheeseburgers (they are literally one of my favorite foods on earth). Are they like a giant fish stick? Crunchy?
My give up is going out for breakfast/lunch. I have a tendency to stop at McD's for breakfast before work on Saturdays
I'm also paying it forward so little things like paying for someone's coffee at starbucks, etc I'm also working on being nicer to DH. With IF issues an being on various meds to help with it I haven't quite been myself and it's been obvious.

Sort of like a big square fish stick, I guess. It is a solid piece of fish with a crunchy coating not like weird fried fish goo or anything.
They are my favorite and always fresh because I guess they aren’t hugely popular. I like them without the (American) cheese personally or get them to sub the cheddar.
I usually don't give something up, I try to do something good. And I always forget about meatless Fridays. I'm the worst. I'm going to try to yell less and have some reflective prayer time every day.
Our Valentine's dinner was supposed to be breakfast...so I switched to grilled cheese because if I'm eating breakfast for dinner, I'm eating pork roll.
diet coke and red med. also downloaded the best lent ever app for the first time last year and i enjoyed the videos, etc.
My mom dragged me to a Dynamic Catholic (the group that created this program) event on Saturday night. I sat in a wood pew for 4 hours and couldn't turn my head the next morning, my neck was so jacked up. That's besides the point. The guy speaking had some good things to say, even though I am not religious anymore. You know, if you could get past his frequent pokes at mental illness, which were really uncomfortable.
oh yuck! I'm sorry, yes the dynamic catholic group as a whole was too much for me. I should edit to day that I enjoy during lent, like a good catholic and like an even better catholic I completely ignore it the rest of the year... sorry you had to sit through that.
I think alcohol. H and I started the Whole 30 yesterday so that will get me through the first month of lent and then I just have to do the few weeks after that.

For me it’s the tartar sauce. I get it for my nuggets during the non lent season. I love that stuff.

I think I'm giving up FB. I'm in my last semester of grad school and need to focus anyway. I'm thinking of doing Whole30 for the last 30 days of lent, since I'll be out of the country for the first 14 days anyway. Isn't lent technically 47 days?

Keeping compliments to myself
If I see something on someone, notice something, or think something about someone, I’m going to try to just say it. I’m down for being more encouraging to the people in my life and not letting the moment pass.

That’s a good one. I started doing that awhile ago, it feels good. I also started making it a point to call someone if I think of them.
Well, I gave up being Catholic about 30 years ago but I was thinking of doing something this Lent in honor of V. I'd like to give up worry and try to do a kindness to others each day, plus take a moment to appreciate what I have.
