Okay! Then let any state/region that wants it make the switch Congress! I know there is nothing else going on in this nation right now so let’s do this! Lol.

If we abolished DST the sun would rise here at 4:15am in the summer, twilight by 3:30am. No thank you. If we stuck with one time year round, I'd rather stick with DST. I can handle the dark mornings in the winter, and prefer the late sunsets in the summer.

The sun sets at 4:30 here in the winter. The sun is going down at school pickup. It’s complete bullshit. I hate the switch, but the switch affords us later sunsets. Otherwise, I’m in that 0 sunsets after 6 pm section of northern Nevada at the start of Pacific time.
On another note, I currently get tv from both Salt Lake City and Reno. Since we get it all over the air, no onscreen guide tells me what time anything is on. I’m pretty sure prime time starts at 6 pm on my tv on the SLC channels, but not until 8 pm on the Reno stations. It’s ridiculous.
I am in Florida and like the only person in the world not supportive of this lol. I don’t mind having it be dark earlyish because it is easier to get my kids in the house earlier from playing after school. It is already light here longer. I know when we visit our family in PA it seems like it is dusk by 5pm so I would see why other states would push for it, but we have enough sunshine time here!
you aren't the only non-supporter. I honestly do believe as a country we need to do away with DST. Here's what utterly pisses me off about this stupidity, I read an article where the bill's author was quoted as saying we need more sunlight for tourism...ummm, that's not how this works. OUT OF EVERYTHING going on in the world, this...this is what our state legislature deems needs to be taken care of?
I personally think it tends to suck either way when you are near a time zone line (we aren’t far from central time) but I’d be fine with it staying one way or the other all year round vs changing. Regardless of which it is we tend to have a stretch of ridiculousness during the longest and shortest days. Like being light until 9-10 at night is pretty nuts.
I would LOVE it to be DST all year round. I hate that it is dark by the time I even get home from work, thus making it difficult to keep up with any outside work unless its the weekend when I have plenty of other stuff to get done.

And seriously the fucking dramatics around turning the clocks back one hour is so ridiculous. Just to amuse myself I love reading MM about what to do, how do they keep their precious from going crazy, And, And, and. It is a fucking hour at 2AM on a Sunday- you and your kids will be fine, lol. In addition, I used to get another hour of bar drinking in college which was fucking amazing.

I've been to Maine on the summer solstice. I was staying in a college dorm room with shitty blinds (I was there for a conference), and the sun rose at 4:50 am. UGH
With that being said, I live along the western border of a time zone, so our daylight is already shifted a bit late. Year-round DST would be kind of insane on winter mornings.

I have a former coworker who is on a one-man crusade to eliminate DST in our area (New England.) I prefer DST but it’s a weird thing to fixate on.
I generally find it annoying to navigate different time zones which I have to do all day every day at work so the special snowflake states adopting or getting rid of DST will drive me insane if they start to proliferate.

I turned 21 the day after we turned the clocks back. My brother texted me that day to make fun of the fact that I had to wait an extra hour to get a legal drink.
But we didn't get an extra hour at the bar ever. Closing time is 1 am in Delaware.

I'll join them. I hate DST. I prefer standard time. It's so horrible when the sun doesn't rise until practically 8 am during DST.

I can totally understand that! I have a really long commute and I find the commute home in the dark totally depressing so I do like DST but it’s true the morning commute is also a drag in the dark, esp since I get to work at 8:30 am.

Truth. It’s the same as taking a trip one time zone away. Adults can adjust roughly one time zone per day, though most will agree that kids adapt to time zone changes better than adults do. Plus nobody on MM freaks about traveling multiple time zones to Disney...
I need help waking up in the morning. And I hate that kids go to school in the dark. I would be MISERABLE if it were dark at 8am.
I'm fine with the sun setting earlier. I can just turn some lights on. Plus my kids go to bed earlier. I hate when we are in MI in the summer and its light until 11pm. Thats just crazy.

I remember reading a book ages ago that discussed the increase in accidents in the week following the spring time change. Work related accidents, car accidents, etc. Apparently there is a measurable increase in this stuff after the spring time change.

Would this eliminate all the parents in my facebook feed complaining about how awful their kids are the day after any time change? I might be able to get behind it.

Probably, but instead you will get to listen to people bitching about their shows not being on at the right time.
We don't change until the last Sunday of March - so it's a pain the butt as my family always forgets or I forget. And then their is the business aspect for my H who works with people in NYC as well as other parts of the world.
Last year I forgot that Europe changes two weeks after the US, and when the US changed I was attributing being tired to losing an hour of sleep. I took me a couple of days to realize that the clocks hadn't actually changed here yet.
One year I accidentally bought decaf coffee the exact week we sprang ahead. I was pretty exhausted and couldn't figure out why for days.
