The 5-day reducing dose pack shouldn't be too awful. If you do gain weight it'll likely be mostly bloat that goes away when you stop. I get the bloat, but not the moodiness or energy.
DS gets a little edgy and restless. My mother gets the bloat but her mood is fine; she was taking higher (up to 80mg) long terms doses for vasculitis. Her weight never went up more than 15lbs over a few years and it vanished quickly once she was done. My father is a rat-bastard on any amount. He's allergic to fire ants, so not optional for him.
I've taken it multiple times, as a taper, for a couple different reasons. I found it really affects my sleep so I try to take it early in the day. Otherwise, I haven't had many issues with it.
My DH has been on a long course and short course. The long course was terrible, but the short course, which I think was also 5 days, was totally fine. I hope you feel better soon!

That’s actually a pretty standard/low dose. As long as you take it early (with food), you should do fine. Some people get ‘roid rage’, but that’s rare. All of your joints will feel amazing!
I doubt you will see many side effects for that small/shorter dose. I have taken high dose for multiple sclerosis flares that require tapers, but once I get to 5 days, it’s easy breezy. Long term high doses have caused insomnia and other things, but again it’s in much higher doses. Steroids can be a wonder drug. I went from barely being able to walk in November to walking normally in 2 days.
