I have a question - only kinda sorta related to this kid, who is amazing.
All these racist fucks out here bitching about how hard it is for their preshus to get into college - is it actually? I mean, they might not get into the college they want, but is there actually an epidemic of high school seniors not getting in ANYWHERE? Like, thinking back to high school - I didn't know anybody who got a full on rejection to PennState. They didn't get main campus, but our local satellite campus? Or say...IUP? I just looked it up and those two had acceptance rates of 88.7 and 94.7 percent. That's..uhh...pretty high.
Can the high school counselors and the like chime in on this?

Not a counselor, but I am guessing they mean "good" colleges, with "good" being defined however they define it. Because otherwise, there are a LOT of options for college out there and based on this, 69% of high school graduates immediately enroll in college, which isn't an astoundingly high percentage.
Do those people think everybody should apply to only one school?
and have they not heard of waitlists?
They were legitimately trying to garner sympathy for the mediocre white kid who opened his response to find out he got waitlisted. I think they even said something along the lines of him taking away a similar happy moment from those waitlisted kids. It was incredibly ridiculous.

Or that if you're accomplished and well-rounded enough to get into Harvard and Stanford like this young man, that the other schools on your list are likely to be like, "Nah, we'll pass"?
He earned himself a lot of great options and I hope he has fun deciding.

Yes, many of our students do not get accepted to four year colleges. They have to go to community college and transfer if they intend to get a four year degree.
