I was making a baby blanket for a family friend as a shower gift. Although she is having a girl, the blanket was various shades of blue because it matched the underwater theme they were going for. (I also chose the Bounce pattern because it's wavy looking.) I get the invite to the shower last night and the theme changed. Ahhhh! So now I have 1050 yards of this super soft acrylic in BLUE. I could use it for something for my cousin's baby, but I didn't do anything for her first or my other cousin's kid. The friend didn't know I was making the blanket, and I didn't say anything to her, obviously, but now I'm frustrated about what to do. Conveniently, that baby sweater I made a month or two ago matches now.
Keep making it! Most of mine and my daughters clothes are blue, her blanket is blue, and no one cares. We didn’t find out before her birth, so she rocked a lot of boys clothes to start and still does!
I love blue, and I think if you said you just decided to stick with the under the sea theme you’ll be set.
Maybe crochet a little starfish and appliqué it down on the bottom corner of the blanket?

Definitely keep going! And I love the idea of adding a starfish or other applique (turtle, fish, octopus, whatever) to the corner to complete the underwater theme.
Very rarely do I make a blanket to match the theme - no one seems to care.

My favorite blankie when I was a kid was blue with a white appliqued puppy in the middle. I adored that thing and literally loved it to pieces. Color doesn't matter to kids.
Ditto to all the posts above. Also, if it matches the sweater she is going to likely have adorable pics done wearing the sweater sitting or laying on the blanket. Sweet!
