It was awesome! FSIL's family gets tons of special occasion cakes from that bakery and my brother ordered one for his proposal. Unfortunately they won't be doing their wedding cake because they have to use the reception hall's in-house baker, but I'm sure they will do a rehearsal dinner cake or something.
I don't know who got the butter pat on their slice but it was cracking me up as I was plating it. I hated cutting it, it was so pretty.
We had a loose "brunch" theme for the party so I suggested the pancakes when Bro was asking for design ideas. Funny enough, on the day I was induced with DD we thought we'd be in and out of the hospital real quick (I'd had some similar issues re: blood pressure in prior weeks and they'd always sent me home within an hour) and so we didn't have breakfast at home because we'd planned on going out for pancakes after the checkup. The medical team came back with the test results and said, "Nope, you're staying!"
MH said the guy from the city that he booked the hall though ("John") just called him, unprompted. John was very nice on the phone. He was aware of the heat situation, apologized about it, said that the woman who was on-site was a new manager and he needs to train her more (well, clearly!), and immediately offered MH a half refund.
MH said he wanted a full refund instead. John said he understood and would talk to his manager about it, and will get back to MH later today or tomorrow.
MH said it was a pleasant exchange and John was being very helpful.
Glad he didn't just tell us to F Off, at least. We'll see what happens.

I’m glad they’re being proactive about this. It sounds like they really want to keep their good reputation intact, and they need to if they want to command a rental cost like that!
I'm seriously impressed that they reached out to you, and were willing to give you a full refund. I always like a happy ending to these kinds of stories, it restores my faith in humanity.
